Interesting concept, but I don't see the reason behind it.
"Sidewinder is the name of our tracking towbar. This invention designed and manufactured by Derek Bester has had some keen interest including ARB - Corp Limited and Hayman Reese Australia."

Hi,

I reckon if car manufacturers can design a park assist that perfectly parks a car then someone can write software for one of those cars to line up on a tow hitch hey

The only thing that link shows me is someone who should not be towing a caravan in the first place.
Unfortunately there are heaps of them out on our roads everyday. Redesigning the towbar to cater for crap drivers is another step backwards..

Like most of the features of modern cars.. EG: Auto park assist.. If you cant park, you shouldn't have a license.

I want a 'tow hitch locator assist' cos Mrs MB can't give directions on reversing for crap.
She knows it so I can say it LOL

Hi,
you mean "Left left. No. Stop. The other left!"
Yep! I've heard that at some campsites too.
cheers

And there I was thinking I was an OK driver I can reverse caravans fine, but I have been in situations where that towbar would be bloody handy. Probably nowhere enough to jutify whatever price it is, but the video shows one simplistic use that a limited turning space would make it an advantage, but being able to reverse while having a better view down the sides in tight situations would be good.
I guess some people don't like admitting they are not perfect and denigrate anything that could be usefull just because thier knuckle dragging ancestors could move woolly mammoth carcases without mirrors and training wheels.

Let her jump in and reverse while you give instructions. A bit frustrating initially but it works and they feel involved even when you can just do it by yourself. ;D

Yep agreed, my wife does the reversing and I guide. Teach them the hand signals and you don't even need to say a word, all she has to do is watch you in the mirror and do what you signal. Easy as.
Sorry bird of topic.

I used to crop her off at the bathroom, or her and the kids in the play ground while I parked the camper. much easier..
or she stayed seated in the 4wd,

Ha Ha, when we're putting the boat on, my missus has the knack of standing exactly in the blind spot so I can't see her, and then when I get her to move, measures the distance between the hitch and ball in such a way as one hand is hidden behind the other.
When I offer her the opportunity to drive, it's politely declined.

Mines exactlythe same - stands right behind the camper so that i cant see her - yells at a level that i cant hear her and then complains i dont listen to her :)

Mine stands behind the van with a walkie talkie. Taught her left hand sown and right hand down. I have to back a steep drive way with little clearance works a treat.
Cheers
