I'm just about to get a second pre fuel filter added to the wagon. Anyone got brand names that are tried and tested?
Also was looking at MrFunnel as a 3rd backup as I'm filling up in remote areas. Anyone used these funnels before? http://www.mrfunnel.com/Mr._Funnel/Home.html
Cheers

Hi Bullant,
Check out the standyne fuel manager filters, I have fitted one to my Patrol (after an $8k insurance claim for fuel contamination) and I think Swanny on here has also fitted the same.
Available from Diesel Care and Bailey's Diesel Group (and probably heaps more places)
You can get kits that come complete with the brackets custom made for your vehicle (I made my own bracket, because I wanted it to be easily checked)

I have the fuel manager fm100 on my landcruiser, over 120k now with no dramas. Just put one on my new hilux as well. Would have a new diesel without one now days.
Diesel care at Toowoomba are good to deal with.

I've thought about the funnel before but my concern is where I can store it where it won't stink out the car or camper.

My concern as well. Since I don't have a roof rack I'm considering a bag on the spare wheel (I already have a rubbish bag there)
Which size funnel is best??

I have a 2 micron Raycor filter installed and have no issues recommending it. You may find it cheaper to buy it from the US though.

All depends on how quickly you want to fill up as they are sized in gpm (gallons per minute). I would say the biggest one as that's about 55L per minute. Depending of course on how long you want to take to fill up and how big your fuel tank is.

Cheers, just ordered one ;D

Ordered one as well, worth the extra bit of coin rather than the contamination issues if something goes wrong

Personally, I'm looking to add a lift pump and second (finer) filter to the patrol.

Advice from a few diesel specialists is that this is not required for second filters like the fuel manager kits (the lift pump that is)
*edit to add what I was actually talking about

I bought one to use when we headed up to the gulf country. Needless to say we never got there so never used it. Keep it in rear drawers just in case.

Thanks for the info, starting to look into it.

We used a 'Baja Filter' while ocean cruising. Successive filter sizes keeps fuel clean going in, not the fastest for large quantities (200L plus) but shouldn't be a factor for cars/trucks. Kept ours for use if and when we go land cruising... starting to sound pretty crowded out there..
