Evening all i was just wondering if anyone has some ideas on keeping the winter chill out of the bed ends on a jayco swan outback.
Its not too bad but it would be good if we good insulate more.
Couple of mods i did on the weekend attached to create more room.

gday mate.
a very good way to help keep the chills outs is honeycombe insulation( the type they line shed walls with) which is silver both sides. lay it down under your mattress between the mattress & plywood base. makes a big difference. although, the insulation isnt cheap but does a very good job, cheers.

We find it is not under the mattress that is the problem, but the gap between the mattress and the walls where the canvas velcros under the base. We have resorted to rolls of blankets to protect from cold intrusion.

oh ok ...............we never really noticed that . we found the cold was coming up from under the bed ends. after insulating the mattress base that the bed was staying much warmer at night.

Thanks for the response for all of the above.
The cold is more coming through the canvas than underneath now.
I have tapped down a fire blanket to the ply and then put a foam underlay on top of that which works well.
Thinking i might try and get Kakadu to rig something up?

are you covering the top of your bed ends with the bagged awning? if not, then yes you will feel the cold alot more.also, we found, without the bagged awning over the top , you will get alot of condensation as well.
ps. you need to have that gap between the awning and the top of the bed ends for ventilation too.

Yep we put the bed end flys up all the time it is more coming through the canvas.
Thinking i might rig something up from the inside that stops the initial hit. I read somewhere that people use blankets etc?

I know this is probably stating the obvious, but just incase you dont we found it a lot more comfortable with the curtains shut when we had one. Obviously helping keep the boby heat in.

Without costing too much we are going to investigate putting something over the outside that is easy to install and effective.
If we need to remove during the day it is easy too.
