Title: Info on Goldstream Campers Required
Post by: nomad66 on June 06, 2014, 07:23:21 PM
Hi All.
We are currently travelling around oz,due to a shoulder op we will need to change our accom.Currently have a Bushranger hardfloor camper which we have taken off road heaps. My question is have any members got or had adventures with GOLDSTAR CROWN .How do they handle the rough stuff. Also considering GOLDSTREAM ESCAPE would appreciate any feed back, we travel a lot on rough tracks and back roads.

Goldstream make a great mid-priced camper/caravan that will get you to all the places you want to go.

Qualifier: have VC coil suspension.  Otherwise could highly recommend GS as far as standing up to rough roads.  Have thoroughly used and abused mine for 3 years with zero side affects,

I had my Storm build for the rough and have taken it across the Gibb and many roads in Central Australia over the past two years with no problems at all, It has VC independent suspension and a payload upgrade as the standard model only has 300kg payload, it now has 600kg.

Brand new or used? Whereabouts/which state?
Trying to get my parrnts (early 70's) to look at same (they are adamant they are not getting a carravan).
Let us know what you think and do.

I sort of agree but they are damn hard to please. I have suggested something like the lifestyle AT10 but they are an extra $20k above a GS. Incidentally do GS offer an electric winder option like Jayco and has anyone had one or seen them in action? I have read mixed reports about them in terms of speed ie very slow. Power use is not mentioned anywhere that I can find.

I'd have a Goldstream over a Jayco in a flash. I'd really love a GS if funding allowed it.

I think the gearing may be different in the goldstream winder. When we were camped next to a mates jayco my goldstream took more winds to get the top up and we both agreed it was easier than the Jayco

Well after all the pro's and con's we ended up buying a 2011 Golstream Explorer 14 ft pop top van.
It was not on the agenda but after my shoulder op the crown was to hard for my wife to wind up.
The explorer is in real good nick off road pack with independent susp,16inch wheels and a host of extra's.
It also came with a yamaha 2kva gen set and 3 alum storage box's very happy. At the present moving all our gear from camper to van,
did not realize we had so much gear.Sorry to be out of camper as it has been home for 21 months, but shoulder will take 12-18 months to
come good. Thanks once again for your replies know all I have to do is sell camper.

And post some photos of your new home away from home.
And tell of your adventures.
See, there's a catch to obtaining "free" info and advice on here  ;D ;D

But seriously,  congrats on new purchase. Hope it gives you trouble free, relaxed holidays.

Well after 8 weeks of re-hab after shoulder operation and being able to sell camper we are planning to take off this thursday.
It will be a shake down and learn stage for us.It has taken a bit to repack everything but done now.
Plan is to head to Albany and do some of the southwest before going O/Seas in august.
Will post some pics later once again thanks for the info.
