Mrs Jeepers and myself are going back to Fraser over the next couple of months for a week while the mowing slows down a tad.
We'll camp in our usual spot, just up from the Meheno, but it might be good to catch up during the day or early evening or sumfin for a beers or two.

Beautiful spot about 1km from maheno. Near the little water outlet.

If I can get the pile of Tin in the garage called a camper trailer made livable in the next week or so [ Though the to do list is quite long ].. We should be hitting the sand at Teewah inbound for Fraser around sunrise on the 23rd June ... We really need the break so heres hoping !!! ...

We're heading over next weekend for a week, sans wives and kids, to do a bit of beach fishing.
-
We will be up there 3rd week of July. Never been there before so would appreciate some advice on where to stay. Have a camper trailer and 2 kids. Like to catch with some people while we are there if paths cross.

Can have fires in camp grounds. Just not behind dune camping.

Therein lies the issue: camp grounds arent the best spots for me personally. I grew up camping at Fraser Island at Coongul Creek and Ocean Beach just south of Ngkala Rocks (correct my spelling please) and I dont want to forsake locations like these to have a fire.

We were thinking a week in late August to early September, while the closed fishing season is on and it's quiet. Not sure if I want the ferals to miss a week of school though, so could be the last week of Sept, (first week of school holidays)
Inskip-ing day after tomorrow :)

I'm thinking July or August at this stage, but that doesn't mean we wouldn't change that to catch up with a swagger or two.
-
I thought I'd better drag out the ol CT today to make sure it was ready for the trip.
Friggin lucky I did, the spare tyre was down to 32psi from 35 and the right side indicator bulb had blown.
All sorted now, but a close call.

Isn't there something about being able to take a proper fire pit (according to their regulations) and the right wood and you can have a fire other places?

not anymore i don't think, but maybe something like an Oz Pig would be ok being it's fully enclosed.....you used to be able to do it, but they keep changing the rules and make it harder to track down what's allowed exactly and what's not allowed, i've given up looking these days what's allowed. You haven't really been able to burn timber for years, you used to be able to use a "manufactured fuel" such as heat beads and sawdust logs and the like, and even then it needed to be in something like a drum that sat 300mm above the ground, and then you also had to take the ash off the island when you left...but they changed the rules after that to need to be fully enclosed...hence my Oz Pig statement above.

Hey Harg's, have ya given any thought to where ya thinkin of campin yet?
I can't confirm times/dates just yet, but it could be the go eh.
We normally plonk our ar$e 1.8 K's north of the Meheno, so it gives us easy access to most areas.
We might have to keep in touch on this me thinks.
-
Steffo1 if you visit am you get milk and cereal .........JC we are not firm on date either .....but the area you mentioned is high on our list of spots to camp....would there be some mobile service in that area ?
-
would there be some mobile service in that area ?
Yes, with a bit of hunting
-
We have T3 or something and we get service on the beach, but sometimes, not at the campsite.
-

Too right!
I'm plotting a scheme where I go to the School on the last day all dressed up for the occasion with the Troopy loaded with toys and a CT on the back and grab "Pole Position" , and take up 3 spots, just to wind up all the Mums in their binged up Playdoo's etc
Where the insert evil laugh button when you need it?
