Title: CT zipper repair in Brisbane area
Post by: ldsparrow on May 06, 2014, 08:17:25 PM
Hi all, does anyone know somewhere in the Brisbane area where I can drop the CT off and get a new zipper installed? Main entrance has had a bit to much usage and the zip keeps coming apart.

Maybe give the guys at trackabout, custom line  or one of the other camper guys a call. They may be able to help, or point you in the right direction?

Is the actual zipper damaged/ teeth missing?

Is it a soft floor?

Fotos are always helpful.

Soft floors are usually a bugger cause of the floor being sewn in.

A zip replacement usually requires the whole thing to be taken off the trailer.

Before you go ahead and replace the zipper can I suggest grabbing some pointy nose pliers and gently pinching the closer on the side "wings" on the back edge. My camper was doing the same and by gently compressing this it helped the zip stay closed.

Don't squeeze to hard as the closer will jam on the zip.

It might not work but it could be worth a shot.

Cheers

No worries mate , most likely just the slide/puller will need replacing no need to replace whole zip. We have the ways and the means lol.

If the zipper bit is too worn out you may be able to snaffle one from an unused matching zipper. I did I this for the cover on ours, tried the squeeze and broke it. One of the walls is missing a zipper, but we haven't used it yet and don't intend to. I did have to remove the zip stopper bit to get it off, but replaced it and now good as gold on the cover. Did the same on the pole bag.

Edit: as suggested above  :-[
