Hope everyone had an enjoyable easter. I know we did, even if we camped just up the road and went to work on and off!
I went to mow our kinder lawn today as kinder goes back tomorrow, and was greeted to the wheely bin out front, overflowing with campers' rubbish- garbage, coffee cups by the dozen, beer and wine bottles, not only hanging out of the bin, but lying on the road around the bin.
This sight usually greets us locals at the park across the road, which had extra bins in place to cope with the tourists. This time, these bins were not used. The kinder is very lucky that both garbage and recycling collection is tomorrow morning.
So please, when travelling be respectful of where rubbish is dumped.
Now to go finish unpacking my gear!

We normally dump ours at a local Kindy who leave their bins out. >:D
Seriously, You bring it with you, take the crap home and dispose of it properly.

we have a bin on the camper, all rubbish goes into that and it is emptied when we get back home.
If we are away for longer periods, we will empty it into a bin that is not nearly full, if it is then we just keep going until we find one that isn't.
I just don't understand why people need to keep trying to fit more rubbish in a bin when it is clearly full.
I wonder if they do that at home?

Usually at the first town we come across with a proper bin/skip. I hate the fact that some 'campers' think they can leave their crap for others to deal with…. ::)

We just take it home or if touring find a big bin or skip and offer to pay a few bucks ;D

We take our rubbish home years ago they used to have skip bins at the entry where we camp in the bush but they have been gone a long time now so we just bring it home and put it in the bin.

Using the campfire, we burn all the foodscraps, cardboard and paper. At the end of the camp, we check in the coals for anything that hasn't been cremated. i.e. Ocassionally we find a partial chop bone that we dig out and bag up. This pretty much leaves the plastics, cans, bottles and tins.
For these we bag up into recycle and non recycle using supermarket plastic bags (double or triple bagged), and tie them onto the cargo racks.
Depending on where and when we camp, we either bring them home or drop them into the council bins in main streets, service stations, or local tips (if one can be found).

I just drove 4 hours from our camping spot to home with our rubbish on the back of the ute cause there wasn't a suitable waste bin to unload... :cheers:

Except I normally look for woollies, Coles or any of those big chain supermarkets skip bins. They over package crap all the time so they can have it back!

I try to make sure that we don't create any rubbish, so no bottles, no cans, only stuff we can burn.

Well, this is sort of in the interest of the thread.......last day camp before heading back home after a very enjoyable easter in the W.A. goldfields, we decided to pull up in a wheatbelt town Kilannie north east of Perth. On the GPS was a very small camp area 10kms out of town so we decided this was worth a look. It was a beautiful camp spot with a huge rock feature in a valley with steel plate BBQs scattered around the shaded area.....Ok, what happened next is beyond me and ive kind of lost my faith in mankind to a degree.
After setting up and relaxing by a fresh lit fire with a coldie in hand, an Avis bus and 3 vehicles enter the camp area and inside were scores of young folk in suits and dresses. A local farmer was having a chat with us along with his heavily pregnant daughter and he assured me that these people that had just arrived were Bretheren. Well, these neatly attired young folk disembarked their vehicles and changed into jeans and t shirts and started to pull down trees around the camp sites to create a huge bonfire. I approached 3 of the young offenders and told them not to break the trees down and was told to shut up and that I was a D_ckhead. Seeing red, I approached what looked like a couple of priests of sort and told them that we were here for some peace and quiet and that the young ones had abused me, He said he would sort it out.
They all formed up and sang Hymns for about half an hour, which was quite good.
At the night went on, the fire got bigger, the young people got drunker, bottles were being smashed and profanities amongst themselves were even out of my league.
Come 1100.pm, the Elders called time and within 10 mins, they were gone, Fire ablaze with flames about 4-5 foot high left in the wake of their dust.
In the Morning we could not believe our eyes, there was empty bottles of Rum and Bourbon and empty cans of cool drink and beer scattered everywhere and up on the rocks were about a dozen smashed bottles of Corona...........at their site was a sign.......PLEASE TAKE YOUR RUBBISH WITH YOU.

Sounds like modern day religious hipocrites to me. World is now full to the brim with these people and the rest of us are referred to as red neck yokels. Truth be known, their church is all about donated $$$ than religion. As long as the said young louts donate enough $$$ then grog, abuse and rude behaviour is acceptable. Just my opinion but I stand by it. Nothing a lever action Marlin wouldn't fix. Anyway............. back to being a red neck yokel.

Drove past the local Vinnies this morning. Seems a lot of people dump a lot of rubbish there. ???

I always dispose of my rubbish responsibly. I also get fed up cleaning up after other's who leave rubbish behind. Local councils have rules about dumping rubbish. I don't see why the discreet recording of a number plate and reporting them for their behaviour shouldn't bring some action. Maybe this will help somewhat to stopping the closure of sites all over Australia if the culprits are known and fined accordingly.

The Dalwallinu shire has a large Brethren community, they own quite a few houses and also farms along with various businesses in the district.
They have decided to relocate though and it seems they are all moving to Kalamunda.
Funnily enough they are apposed to any sort of conflict and they are extremely strict when it comes to their followers and there conduct.
Many are farmers and as such, would be well aware of the potential dangers of leaving a fire unattended. This is why I find it surprising that they acted in manner, maybe those in charge need to rethink their actions and read the good book again.

LOL, Yep, been there, done that. At Nanga Dwellingup, been camped there for four days, nice and peaceful, come Friday evening, a ute turns up with massive generator on back, pulls up about 100 yards from our camp site, sets up genie and FOUR large light poles in rectangle, tests lights and cars disappear. Just before dark, heaps of cars start to turn up park anywhere, tuff titties on the campers who were already there. Turns out this is a religious group from Mandurah, had decided to have a fun night conducting some sort of mapping exercise whatever. Their numbers increased to about 200 people. I KID YOU NOT ! The noise they made had to be heard to be believed, and consideration for fellow campers ? DUH, what's that ? So called Christian consideration for other folks was nowhere to be seen.
Eventually I approached someone who appeared to be an authoritive figure and asked them for their booking slip from D.E.C. they replied they hadn't got one. So I asked them then, who they spoke to at D.E.C. to gain permission to conduct their event at Nanga, was told no one. I then told him he needed permission to conduct such an event and I'd be reporting him/his group and their car registrations to DEC in the morning.
After that, things quietened down some, and around midnight they packed up all their gear including the gen sets and poles, and actually did an EMU BOB clean up of the area. THAT really surprised us, maybe they were concerned DEC would be getting back to them.
BUT, the point is, these groups seem to be under the impression that just because they are a big group, and/or allegedly Christian, they can do whatever they please and stuff everyone else.
It's up to US as campers, to stand out ground and demand they respect us and our privacy, we'll be only too pleased to reciprocate.

You have hit the nail on the head :cup:, campers must stand against these ignorant people even the act of taking down Rego time date what you saw and any photos delivered to the land manager, with your contact details and they can issue an infringement notice :police:,
sit back and do nothing and you just add to the problem. :-[
