I bought the fridge as part of a second hand Kimberley Kamper and would believe the fridge is around 10 years old. I think it takes a long time to cool down and I don't think it would ever get down to be a freezer.
The readings below show the rate of cooling over a 4 hour period after setting the thermostat to 7 – the external temperature was around 25 degree and the fridge was in the shade and empty.
Time Degrees
Start 21
1 hr 18.5
2 hrs 14.5
3 hrs 11.2
4 hrs 8.5
Is this normal?
I am wondering if it needs a re-gas?
Any comments?

It's completely normal Allan.
Let it run for 24 hrs, then see how it goes.
Did the fridge come with instructions? They usually have some on the underside of the lid.
Eutectic fridges operate differently to others. You'll get the most out of yours if you understand how it works.
It's explained on the Autofridge web site.

Also, may actually get cold more quickly if it has food & drinks in it.
I was warned that any setting above 1 would result in freezing. ... Correct!
Need to be very carefull with the beer - can generate a 'slushie' with a bottle of water between 1 - 2.
Mine is at least as old as yours.

Yep.
We set ours at 1.5, but we have another fridge for beer.
Any of the white water varieties of milk will ice up, but the ones that still have some milk in them are OK.

X 3 as above, a fantastic and energy efficient frige once you understand how it works and how to drive it. Mine is pushing 20 years old also now and still going strong.

X4. BTW, although it will freeze, this is not the intended use. Again, explained in the instructions.
Another difference to other fridges is that the outer aluminium sides are the equivalent to the coils in a traditional fridge. Make sure you have a 2" air gap.

Aaaagh - I did not read the instructions carefully enough - or remember them. After 24 hours the temp is -6.5.
Thanks for the comments.
