Can't seem to find a thread for odd things we've seen. If there is, then happy for it to be merged.
-
So the other day I see a guy riding a quad bike along my footpath. Why odd?
Well it was registered for road use?
Tried to get a pic, but He wasn't stopping and by the time I realsed, he was gone.
The quad was definitely registered with number plate, rider had a helmet on, and there was a flashing orange light on a pole stucking up from the back of the seat.
What else? Well he was riding on the footpath not the road (and no, not delivering letters!)
Then finally today the mystery was solved.

Clearly a survey or scanning vehicle to show council where footpath anomalies needed grinding.....
2nd crew of grinders at work today.

From your topic heading, I thought you might have bumped into my father in law......
I was worried someone had let him out again!

was he the one on the quad or the grinder?
-
I saw a couple of quads like that once, decked out with front/rear and side cameras, GPS and a satellite. Etc.. The kitchen sink may have been on it somewhere too...
I spoke to the drivers. They were for footpath maintenance.
-
what? they put concrete on the footpaths where you are from? You must live in a flash area!!!
-
Plenty of quads with primary producer rego but didn't think they could be full rego'd. But councils seem to be able to do what ever they want!
Sent from somewhere on something with that tap thing

Tried and tried to get an answer from the then RTA as to why I couldnt get a quad full road registered, I must have been a bit of a pain, as the head of the technical department on the phone down Sydney way just yelled " Ya Just can't, thats why " and promptly hung up on me.
Rather rude for a public servant I thought, dont think he appreciated the call back to tell him so . ;D

Don't know why it was so hard for the RTA man?
Seems easy enough in Vic - http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Registration/WhatHasToBeRegistered/OtherVehiclesvesselsAndRegistrationIssues/Specialworkvehicles.htm (http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Registration/WhatHasToBeRegistered/OtherVehiclesvesselsAndRegistrationIssues/Specialworkvehicles.htm)
;D
Most commonly around here for weed spraying.

In Vic the only catch is it has to have a diff in it, no live axels like in all the big fun high horse power versions.

So, to bring this back on topic....
The other night I saw something that I have never seen before. I'm not sure that it is common. I saw a rainbow at night! :o
We had a shower come through around 4am and with an almost full moon coming through a break in the cloud there was a full rainbow. It was an eerie grey rather than the full colour spectrum you'd see in the day.
Amazing!
