Post by: Black Diamond on March 01, 2014, 08:57:32 PM
Come across a handy link to help people on making some decisions on purchasing a Camper Trailer and maybe help answering a few questions.

Interesting but certainly not an exhaustive list of Australian Camper trailer manufactures.

To name a couple not included - Sar Major and Ultimate.

I imagine manufactures have to pay to be part of the AMCTG (a bit like food companies using the Heart Smart Tick)

Maybe a few of the members, Trackabout or Customline, can inform us of the membership process other than the engineering compliance cert.

Hi Swaggers,

AMCTG – Membership criteria
•   Both trailer & tent must be manufactured (not assembled) in Australia
•   Trailers must be built from Australian steel
•   Canvas must be Australian made
•   Tents must be actually sewn in Australia (not Australian canvas sent to China to be sewn)
•   Trailers must be fully ADR compliant
•   Members must supply list of ADR compliance numbers for all lights, reflectors, hitches, etc used
•   Trailers must have a full Engineering Certificate
•   Members are audited on a regular basis to ensure compliance with the above

Hi D4D,

It does cost to be a member.
But that money goes towards the running of the AMCTG, audit cost, advertising, CSIRO and RMIT testing of imported canvas and products.
It is a non-profit organisation.
