Title: LPG Home Gas Heating
Post by: Rodt on February 28, 2014, 11:56:39 AM
Does anyone have any recommendations for a home LPG gas heater. Buying a house that has the fittings installed but don't know much about them at all. Google searching appears to revolve around Rinnai and Everdure but have noticed a cheaper brand called Bromich that seems to read OK.

What are the pitfalls of buying the cheaper brands, what can go wrong, why shouldn't you etc. Have been buying the cheap brand TVs for years and haven't had any problems so is it the same with heaters or are there valid reasons?

Any help or direction please ???

So long as the heaters meet ADR requirements they should be fine. We had gas heating in our home when we lived in Albury and it was great. Rinnai was the brand I think. Just check with the supplier and you should be fine with the cheaper model. Also compare the length and inclusions on the warranty compared to the others.

Thanks all good tips and will check out the consumption rates and compare. As for using with LPG some of the info I did find said that it still works out a fair bit cheaper than electricity. As said buying the house with it all set up so we are weighing up using it or installing split system RC air cons.

Thanks again

We have inverter splits, find they run on the smell of an oily rag so to speak, we only use them for cooling, as all heating now is from the slow combustion heater.

25 mjs per hour is roughly coverted to 1 litre of gas if that helps you out cheers Mark

We had a rinnai and it was a great heater until it died and they wanted more than it was worth to repair.  So I purchased a cheapy bromic to use while I made up my mind weather to repair or renew the rinnai. That was three winters ago. It has no remote control or preset temperature control. Just low or high and a couple of batteries for the igniter, It heats our small house just fine and doesn't seem to use anywhere near the amount of gas that the rinnai did
