I have been with NRMA for 10 years and have asked them on numerous occasions for a reduction in premiums having 3 policies with them. Each time it was only the odd dollar.
So after watching the Youi ads I thought why not give them a go.
The comparisons include the same excess. The cruiser is used only now and then.
Cruiser: insured for $15,600 .....NRMA $85. 25 per month........Youi. $40.50 per month
Lancer: insured for $22,500......NRMA $72.80 per month.........Youi. $59.40 per month
Contents: insured for $30,000....NRMA. $39.40 per month.........Youi. $22.41 per month
Youi offer unlimited glass replacement for $50 each claim on all windows on the cars and will cover the cruiser on any road at the Cape plus up to $300 accommodation if a breakdown occurs.
The way Youi covers the value of the cars is that they will replace the vehicle like for like with approx the same kilometers plus other benefits.
A great saving.
NB: I have no affiliation with Youi but thought it was worth mentioning. Like all insurance policies you should always read the product disclosure booklet and make sure the insurance is right for you. ;D
Interesting when I cancelled the policies with NRMA they said ok but we will contact you in 12 months and see if you would like to re insure with us. So much for loyalty.

Awesome savings.. . but this part still sticks in my mind....
-
That's incredible mate, similar with GIO, we have 5 policies with them and two green slips. They only want to look at my premiums when I call to cancel policies. Might give Youi a call next year....
Cheers
Disco teddy.

Not insured with them but have had a few discussions with those that are.
Seems those that have not made a claim are very happy.
50% of 'claimants' were happy.
The 50% got an email saying " we are not renewing your policy"
Only from blokes I know.
They love small cars doing the school drop offs etc

Agree Lost, hopefully I will never have to find out but I suppose like all insurance companies they all promise the earth until the magic word "claim" is mentioned.

100% correct Mr. and yea, lets hope theres no need to talk to them again!

I tried a quote with them a while ago and it was the opposite, well above my premium with AAMI, suppose its where your located

Give Shannons a call. Found them better than Youi. Had one claim (no fault) and no issues at all.
-
Mark
That is great savings - I will have to look into them.
I am currently with NRMA and like the fact they will cover me off road as well, does Youi do this.
Would not be a game changer for the wife's car but would have to think long and hard about it for mine.
Thanks
John

Yep I have the Torrie & the cruiser with Shannon's. $5k better agreed value than aami for $20 a month less

Mate of mine had his car repaired, front end damage, by youi. They used 2nd hand parts for most of it and had 3 goes to fix the front end geometry. Suffice to say he's not with youi any more.
-
Just quickly read Youi's PDF, two interesting points
- unbraked trailers are covered up to a maximum of $2500.00. Will have to check if this is the case on my policy, it may even be industry standard for all I know.
- you are not covered in off-road adventure parks but they do lot specifically list off road as an exclusion. A phone call and question is needed to get final ruling.
Worth further investigation when my policies come up for renewal.
Thanks
John

Youi convert here as well house & contents car caravan & pet all insured saved $80 per week. Was with QBE for 17 years without a claim and increases in premium each year. 17x4k = 68k I could have paid of my mortgage. Kicking myself for not doing it earlier like I always threatened to do when the bill came..
-
Some people I know was insured with that mob and was told over the phone they cover floods after the 2010 floods so they changed to the said company than in our 2013 floods in bundaberg and there house getting flooded they rang them to put in a claim and were told they were not coverd as there terms and conditions. So please read there terms and conditions before going with them and there was more in bundy with the same problem
-
They did say flood is not covered. It also depends on post codes, how your information stacks up with their requirements and what risk factor you are. Every insurance will vary for each individual.

I have been with QBE for years, I did the rounds last year and decided to stick with QBE for our Dmax. They cover you anywhere in the country, beach, bush, desert etc.
For the CT I have CIL and contents are with Bendigo Bank, they also cover camping equipment included with the policy.
-
I tried insuring with them but as soon as I said " 2" lift" they said sorry no thanks...
-
Called youi for a quote on boat insurance, the young guy was polite and friendly, asked a lot of questions and was so proud to offer me boat insurance for only $630 / month.
No that is not a mis-type $630 / month.
He couldn't understand what I was laughing at him, he said it was the best they could do and it was very competitive.
All my other insurance is with NRMA called them, and combined with my multi policy discount they offered $48 / month.
Guess who I'm insured with?
-
I moved our house and contents to Coles Insurance last year from NRMA. Their insurance went up so much it was a joke. Rang them but the answer I got was that was the best they could do. Had been with them for years and had 1 small claim. Still with them for car and caravan insurance at the moment. It is worth shopping around.
-
I've been with NRMA for the last 24 years and can't fault them. We have all our insurance with them 2x cars, house, contents, travel. I've found that if you call them and try to get a reduction they won't do it but if you go into a branch they will always knock some off. Every year at renewal time I take my policy in and they reduce it. I just renewed the xtrail policy and they knocked $20.00 a month of that policy.
-
We went with cgu overall great customer service and their bonus discount program is great.
-
I tried a quote with them a while ago and it was the opposite, well above my premium with AAMI, suppose its where your located
GG
x 2 except I was comparing with CGU and are still with them - but from memory Youii was a crazy quote I almost accepted their policy then realised they said per month not per annum
-
Give Shannons a call. Found them better than Youi. Had one claim (no fault) and no issues at all.
We are with Shannon's too on the Ute, we had a hail damage claim and they were excellent. We found in ringing around it depends on what mods etc you have done to the vehicle as well. Since we have done a few mods and especially the canopy which was a big cost, we had issues finding an insurance company to cover us for enough. Shannon's was pretty close. We were with NRMA who did cover us but their premium when up heaps and they wouldn't drop even though we also had all our policies with them. We are moving them one at a time.
-
Insurance is weird. I may have told this story before but years ago I had a 2.8 4runner insured with AAMI.
Fitted a safari turbo which took it from mind numbingly slow to simply slow.
AAMI wouldnt insure it any more.
Went to a specialist insurer - cheaper insurer than pre turbo.
They were underwritten by AAMI. :D
-
Spoke to an insurance bloke at the Wandin 4x4 show yesterday, he is e-mailing quote to work today, so I'll have it when I get back tomorrow.
He emphasised that coverage includes UN-named tracks. I also asked him about CT insurance and he asked who I'm currently with. When I told him CIL he said no point changing, as his company's policies are under-written by them, so wouldn't be any savings.

Had the same thing with NRMA, we always paid up for the year, asked for a discount and we got $15 off for all our stuff (house, car, camper) for a year... mum works for Youi and i gave her a call we ended up saving more with them almost half what NRMA offered, I tried quotes everywhere else and it wasn't worth the trouble, ive already had a call from NRMA asking if we would like to come back, the quote was more expensive then when i was with them.
Ive not had to claim yet so cant comment on their claims department.
-
Ended going with YOUI as they offered me a reduced price as the CT sits in the garage most of the time. So I only pay prorata when I take it out. Happy? Yep!
-
I heard a couple of people talking about Youi at work last week. Similar storied of $$ savings. I might have to check it out.
-
No matter what insurer you go with, make sure they will cover you anywhere in the country, Beach, Bush Water Crossings, Deserts, etc. Obviously, they don't cover private property.
Mods are another thing to take into consideration, will they replace or pay out for all mods to the vehicle.
Towing is something to look into, if you are stuck in the middle of the bush miles off the main road will they foot the bill for recovery/towing?
Transport costs, will they cover all transport coats in the event you vehicle has to be transported back to the city?
Transportation costs, will they pay your transportation costs to return home?
Accommodation, will they pay for accommodation out in the country?
Hire car, do they supply you with a hire car?
New for old replacement in the first 5 years.

A great price on 'cover' (http://'cover')that doesn't isn't a great price but a waste of $....
As with other things, you get what you pay for.

Has anyone had dealings with APIA ?
Quote difference between Suncorp $858, & APIA $618 = $240.
The only difference being APIA does not include windscreen & car hire extra $50.
Just wondering if anyone has had dealings with regard to repairs/claims.
I just spoke to them & asked why the insured value of my vehicle had dropped $5000 yet the renewal had increased by $150. the reply was it depends on the accident risk of my suburb (I live rural residential) .. so if Jack & Tom down the road or someone in town has an accident my policy increases!
I have been with this mob for 20 yrs but i now fear we will be partying company this time around.
-

I'm not that old ;D

Thought I'd get a quote of Youi. $400 a year more expensive than Shannons!!
swannie
-
I just changed the tug over to Shannons from NRMA.
Covered anywhere we are legally allowed to be, higher insurance value, halved the excess, no-extra cost for monthly repayments and $50 less.
Even covers 1 free glass replacement a year.
Bloke on the phone was super helpful.
Their green slip was $200 cheaper than NRMA as well.
Reduced the premium on the FJ and the SS while they were at it. Bonus

My issue with YOUI is discounts are based on yourn habits (park in secure parking, short trip to work etc) what happens when you have a claim when you have stepped outside of your routine
