Sorry, couldn't post up details before,I was too upset,
This started last week when we noticed a slight limp in Zaccy's walk, and being 12.5 years old we thought it was probably arthritis and so did the vet, by Friday there was no improvement with anti inflamatories, infact it was worse, so vet still thought arthritis so we got strong pain killers, but by this morning he was struggling to walk, holding his foot up in the air, so back to the vet early this morning, decision, take an xray and have a look at what might be there.
Xray showed a definite shadow around his leg 1/2 way between ankle and elbow, not good, so did chest xray as well, not conclusive if it has spread to chest and lungs.
So tomorrow he will have ct scan to determine just exactly if the cancer has spread, if it hasn't his right front leg can be amputated followed by chemotherapy, his life expectancy would be about 12 months.
If the cancer has spread, and it's a very aggresive form of cancer, Zaccy will only have a matter of weeks to live, there is no cure, all we will be able to do is give him the best pain killer drugs we can get and lots of love.
This sh1ts me, he is such a loving ,freindly, affectionate dog, he just loves everybody and thinks everybody loves him, and today is the anniversary of him having his ear bitten off by another dog,he just does not derserve the cards he's being dealt.
If he was a human, he would be described as öne of lifes gentlemen
Sorry if I'm rambling a bit
cheers Keith

Sorry to hear the news Keith. Hope it all works out best as possible.

Sorry to hear mate.

Keith, at his age, he's obviously lucky to have had you in his life this long... and you are lucky to have had him by the sounds of things.
Enjoy the time you have left with him and I'm sure he'll appreciate the time he has left with you.
Big tummy rubs and a good old ear scratch from me and my girl Lizzie.
Sad days, but wonderfull memories, I'm sure.
Cheers to you and Zac.
17 yrs is a great innings.
:'(

A very sad time for your family, Keith.
-
So sorry to hear your news Keith. Having been through something similar I know the pain your feeling at the moment. He is a family member.
I know it's a difficult time but Zaccy has had a great life. I remember the anguish I went through deciding whether to put our Minka to sleep or keep treating her with pills and injections. Finally deciding that nothing was going to cure her so we sent her to a better place without suffering any further pain.
Our thoughts are with you mate.
Cheers
-
Thats sad ... but don't dwell on the negatives. Think of the wonderful life you have given to old fella ... and give him a big pat from me.
All the best.
-
Sorry to hear your dog is unwell.

Our fur kids are our only kids so I know how much Zaccy means to you losing Milli last year to a snake broke my heart I cannot think of her still without a lump in my throat and often tears in my eyes she was an amazing dog. I hope after your trip to the butcher today that Zaccy is enjoying his special treat. Spend time with him smile at all the good things you get to do and have done in the past. From our family of 1 fur kid dog Dizzy 1 fur kid cat Skeeta and 3 big fur kid horses we are thinking of you all and send Zaccy our love

Just an update on Zaccy, he appears to be really good, but the cancer has spread to his left eye, still a bit of sight there but not much, xrays this morning show the tumor on his leg has more than doubled in size in the 5 weeks since the 1st one was done, so we are assuming the growths in his chest and lungs have done the same.
He had the best time at Eildon, knows just how to work the crowd 8) and he says thanks for all the fuss you made of him :D
-
best wishes to all the family mate, 2 legs or 4
-
Our regards to Zachy (and Bron and yourself!) from Bec, Trev and the kids.
-
Feeling your pain and thinking of you all. He definitely won hearts at Eildon.
-
It's always heart wrenching when your pal nears their end.
all the best.
-
sounds like he'd be in a fair wack of pain with all of that...
-
Zach is a beautiful guy. Our best wishes to you all. We hope that he's not in too much pain. Give him a huge hug and pat from us. We are thinking of you all.
