That is a trillion times better than what those arse clowns over at EMG produce every month.
-
I've been waiting for this for a while...
These guys are friggin mental!
I imagine the old ticker would have been pumping during that whole scene!
At least they got both vehicles out and can have a beer and tell a good yarn at the end of the day.
-
Lucky for the angle of that tree to winch the ute back over.
-
That was awesome. I was chewing my finger nails with worry. :cup:
-

The angle of the snatch strap still under tension also helped to pull it back over aswell
-
Didn't know how that was going to end. Edge of the seat stuff.

x 2. Its a great show, puts those other clowns to shame.
-
Good to see he was humble enough to say what a stupid decision he made to go back across that last time.
Goes to show that even experienced people can get into trouble - if they can, anyone can. A good lesson learned!
-
I can't belevie she layed over on the side and got back up without a ding.

Why not? She's a Toyota :)

Stupid question, but who are the others.
Yep, guilty, don't watch the telle

Easy to believe...landed in playdough, with brush rails, and side steps to lay on, duno about Toyota though... ;D
-
I was surprised that they only had one guy on a shovel, surely with all those kitted out rigs they have more than one long handled shovel?
Good that he is able to reflect at the end. thanks for posting it.
-
Don't think it was that bad. ;D If it was bad, the cameraman would have been told to drop the camera and help...
-
Awesome Recovery! :cup:
Hate it when they are wearing their shirts though. :'(

i was thinking similar also...lol
-
Now every bog they get in will be compared to this one..
Even if they have a real bad bog, they will say, glad it wasnt as bad as the roll over bog.

agree, he earned a lot of respect back from me by admitting it was a dumb call.
but yeah, EMG's staged crud (remember the troopy on the beach, lol) have got nothing on these boys :)
-

Rumpig, I'm glad you had the quote there because for a moment I thought you were responding to kit_e_kat ;D

Sorry should have been more specific, the clowns who put the dribble together for emg (4wd action).
-
That ute certainly blew a bit of smoke for a few moments there after being righted.
Been watching this show on TV it's my first series. I quite like these guys, they are certainly clowns but there pretty straight up and they don't shove advertising down your throat every 5mins.
-

Maybe footage of the others helping ended up on the editing floor.
Also in one of their previous episodes, they each had a shovel so maybe a bit of it was staged.
Not trying to take anything away from the show as I really enjoy it.

I thought the original bogging might have been staged? He seemed to lift of and slow very quickly before he stopped. Or maybe that was him break through the bog?
-

It seems that the first time going across he picks a new line but going back across he crosses where the mud is.
I think it was staged but maybe not the roll over. But the tree was in the right spot to pull the truck back over.
Either way it makes great viewing.
May try some of this action on the Cape Trip. ;D
Mark
-
Yeah, believe that the original bogging was staged to show a recovery- they do that a bit
but then it all went wrong, just like real recoveries
-
Personally I don't go much for these guys. With all the film crew etc there would have been quite a few people there no doubt (who was riding the quad and other vehicles in the background), so some of it would have been staged, but the rollover I think was not expected. Well done to get out of a bad situation.
With all the anti-cancer stuff circulating, I don't think they set a good example to the young folks out there with these guys running around and fishing in the sun without shirts or skin protection on.
just my opinion.

Regretfully there is no one out there that does these trips without the fanfare and pushing their sponsors gear.
The Malcolm Doulgas, Les Hiddens, Leyland Bros etc that we all grew up with I cant recall pushing their sponsors to the extent they do today. The shows back then were all about the country side and places they visited.
I suppose we have to live with it if we want to watch today's concept of adventure.

The quad bikes are there's. They towed them in and left them in camp when they went out with the trucks.
It wasn't staged it was a stupid mistake, which they admitted, due to going back so they could get a shot by the cameraman.
I know conspiracies etc are all the rage on forums and social media but sometimes things just happen
-
Certainly don't want to get into an argument, but quad bikes, trailers, tents and cameramen are all seen in the background.
Like I said a staged scenario goes very much wrong and they did well to get out of it.

And why wouldn't they be, that is their campsite. They had been away from the main camp exploring.
They said that he got stuck because the cameraman missed the shot when he first came back so he went back to try again and it went pear shaped.
-
I thought the original bogging might have been staged? He seemed to lift of and slow very quickly before he stopped. Or maybe that was him break through the bog?
I thought the same thing
-
Ummm... how does this differ from the 4wd action dvds? Crazy guys with lots of sponsorship money pushing their vehicles too hard. I happen to like both ;D
-
It just goes to show how quickly things can go from zero to holy fook, and it was all due to a camera not being turned on
That's something that would happen to me :-[
-
Personally I don't go much for these guys. With all the film crew etc there would have been quite a few people there no doubt (who was riding the quad and other vehicles in the background), ...
As others have stated, the quad bikes were their's, towed in. There were only the three of then at the site when this happened, the two drivers and a cameraman according to Rod when I quizzed him on it at the 4WD show.
-
I love the different versions given in the two parts. In part 1 they are saying they just HAVE to cross the river and get stuck. In Part 2 it is clear from all the tyre marks and circle work they have been playing it up for the camera and it turned to poo.
Just hope they can fish cause they can't 4wd.
-
Regardless of the circumstances and staged recovery if it was at all, it was very entertaining and edge of seat stuff. I must say that he looked bloody stressed at the end of all that in the car. Beats 4wd Action any day. :cup:
-
Just finished watching the episode on TV. There was only the three of them there when it all went pear shaped. Jason, Simon and the camera man. They had left the tents and trailer on the other side while they went to the coast fishing. Makes me now think that it was pretty genuine.
KB
-
I do not think it was staged, if it was jason and simon are genuine emmy award winning actors, and are wasted on this show, watch it again and pay particular attention to the body language facial expressions, and the post incident adrenaline dump that Jason is trying very hard to fight off as his body, tries to expel the massive dump .
They admit staging the shot but the rest was real in my opinion. I also don,t think they push sponsors that hard, they talk about the gear as it comes up ,
when he talked about fridges he simply said he liked to use the one big fridge and one smaller one , instated of
"as you can see here when simon and I are off the track we rely only on the best equip possible and in line with that we have this weaco cx80 12/24v fridge freezer with is low power consumption and state of the art compressor it is the market leader in fridges out here" ect ect or words to that effect.
In fact most of us prob push the merits of our choices in equip more than these guys, and we actually paid for our gear .. ??? ???
I like em , and esp their respect for those airman who died protecting our great nation in ww2..
bit rough with the no shoes and sun safety thing, but honestly they are the not cancer council ambassadors, until i see them red raw and peeling then i will take they are able to manage themselves and thither sun safety.
Jet ;D ;D

Yes change of opinion. Jas was close to tears hence next shot sunnies on.

The first thing I saw was another extra cab ute with an extended tray making it all saggy baggy in the rear end . . . . . . . .
It made me think of the GMV thread
http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=34753.0 (http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=34753.0)
But yes it was a good bit of footage & they were packing it.
-
Difference here is that they have had their vehicles engineered & upgraded to carry the weight.
More importantly is that they they don't pretend that they are factory GVM rated.
Incredible footage, a lot of it was from the GoPro cameras that they have in the cabs and fixed mounted on the trucks.
What sets these guys apart from the other action show is that they said at the how stupid and dangerous it was, to the camera and included it in the edit, not as a voice over latter.
Many of us have had that 'Oh My God' moment, Shows how quick things can go pear shaped.
And that you can't have enought "TJM" snatch straps?
ATC
-
And that you can't have enought "TJM" snatch straps?
But could they get them apart after the recovery? :)
-
If it was me, thinking about undoing the straps would me my least concern in a situation like that.
-
If it was me, i would buy new straps.
These guys should be getting the sponsor to give me some new ones.
-
But could they get them apart after the recovery? :)
Of course they could. There was a copy of 4wd action in between them. ;D
-

Yeah but for some reason I want to go out and buy some EEEEEEE FFFFFF SSSSSSSSSS suspension, don't need though! just got to have it. ;D
Regards
Angus.

I don't care if they get sun cancer. ;D :-* >:D

So there is a practical use for a 4WD Action mag ;)

Just wondering how these 2 x L/C's would fit in that other thread (s) recently about GVM.
Easy to see why he tipped it over so easily.
Good stuff though, even the wife liked it.

One vehicle is the 200s landcruiser that has been cut and extended so would be engineered to be registered in its new configuration. Not sure about the other Factory L/Cruiser dual Cab
-
Just looked at their web site.
"JASON'S TRUCK
2013 Toyota Landcruiser 200 Series
4.2 tonne"
"SIMON'S TRUCK
2013 Toyota Landcruiser 79 Series
3.8 tonne"
It doesn't say how they were up rated without watching the videos.

I dunno what some of yas are having a whinge about. Lol. I love the show and have been watching it since they started with no sponsors etc.
Was on fraser at xmas time and caught up with jase n his family and what you see happened was a accident that wasnt staged. Mind you if you have all been watching the bog at the creek pulling the noat out took them 4 hrs to get out from. Lol
Anyway love the show nothing better at the moment And you couldnt meet
A nicer guy.
Here is all on fraser. Me. Mum. My 2 kids. N jase. Just south of ngkala rocks.
-
I've watch this show from the very first episode and love it. I think Jason is a pretty genuine bloke. I've actually emailed him a few times with questions and he's always promptly answered back. Im always very admiring of people who have had the balls and foresight to turn their passion/hobby into their job. Very jealous

What ever happened to Rodo?

I'm pretty sure work commitments halted him as the show wasn't his full time gig.

Thanks god that high pitched bogan voice use to drive me mad
-
Ran into these guy's a couple of years ago at Beagle Bay church north of Broome. We pulled up and the two 4wd's were there one towing the big boat and the other towing the quad bikes we went into the church and watched them do their filming.
Talking to them they said they had been filming a series on Cape Leveque.
What really surprised us was that there was no big film crew there was only the two of then and one cameraman.
-
I've seen them at magazine dos. They do a great job with limited resources. Definitely could not afford to lose a vehicle. My favourite show of this type by far.

I just watched the full episode involving the roll over recovery.........these guys barely pushed any of their sponsors if at all. sure the camera was position well at times i.e. when he was cooking he mentioned his set up with two fridges, you could see they were waecos but he didn't mention waeco once.........the same when they mention the side bars protected the car in the roll over I don't recall them mentioning TJM at all
if they stick to their guns and not over do the sponsors than they have my vote

the off the shelf upgrades don't come anywhere near covering the weight of Jason's rig.....I actually wonder if you could ever get a 200 engineers to 4.2T
Simon's truck is only a bees dick over

The 200s Jason drives having a chassis cut and extension and the removal of the rear wagon section to create an extended dual cab would require an engineers certification ,so one would assume that part of that process would include an evaluation of the suspension, body and chassis to arrive at an approved gvm.

Yep and given a standard wagon can be upgraded to 3800 couldn't see why a modded, cut 200 couldn't be rated to 4200kg

Yeah notice the same thing, a gentle plug for their sponsors is certainly not going to hurt. As long as they don't go don't the Pat Callinan route. I realize these guys need to pay for the show but I get sick of the ads in Pats show. Also it gets a bit hard to swallow when last season Icom and pirrelli were the chosen ones now it's Cooper and GME.
-
Are but then again he was taught by the Ego Mainicle Group on how to promote sponsors ...LOL.
