Title: Hi from the Redlands
Post by: Robgr on December 12, 2013, 11:28:54 AM
Hi All,
Time to introduce myself after joining the forum a few weeks ago.  My partner and I live at Mt Cotton in the Redlands with our 3 daughters, aged 9, 8 and 4.
We don't actually have a camper trailer atm but I am seriously looking.

I have done a bit of 4wd and camping in the past but not so much with the kids.  Hopefully having a camper will make things a little easier to get away if I can have most things packed ready to go.

I have a Dual cab Hilux and we have just acquired a GU patrol, which with the seven seats will now be our main vehicle.  I have a bit of work to do on the patrol, leaking intercooler and radiator, 2' lift, roof console etc.

My budget for a camper is around the 10G mark, does not take hours to setup and has enough room, so feel free to make recommendations.  I know a lot of people will say buy Australian made second hand and I know that budget puts me in the imported Chinese campers, but from what I have seen so far they are getting better and I am prepared to make modifications where needed.  I have just not seen anything on the second hand market which appeals to me.

Cheers,
Rob.

Welcome Rob,

Good luck with your CT search. Do your research and stick to your budget.
Once that's done, get out there camping and enjoy.

Rob

Welcome, good luck with you search - best advice is work out what are the must haves for you and go from there.

We went for a Customline (a) it was Aus made and (b) the base price of the offroad was around $8500 (c) is fairly easy for us to put up/pack up with three aged 6 and under getting underfoot.

Hello fellow redlander!!!
Enjoy your search, and don't ignore 2nd hand!!
I'm sitting here, by my 2nd hand Camel Bushman Plus, which we bought 2 years ago, which has been a good buy... 10 min main set up, bit longer for the full annex... , listening to the waves crash on the mid NSW coast.

Whatever you buy.... Use it lots!!!! Then every time gets easier... :cup:
