Hi all, Ive done a search but couldnt come up with anything.
Im finalising plans to purchase a block at Ningi and need to start getting a few quotes for a shed. Does anyone have any recommendations of who to go to? Experiences good or bad? Im after something that will be 17M X 9M and in the 17M will be a 5M carport and triple roller doors.
There are so many companies that my head is just spinning at the moment.
Thanks

I don't know any local Queensland companies. But I went with a Ranbuild shed this year and the process, delivery, and construction were pretty much faultless. Very happy with the quality and instructions. Certainly not the cheapest, I went with a deluxe model which has few more flashings and colored screws, they do have a cheaper range.
If I could offer a couple of suggestions for any shed.
Insulation, I went with wool over Aircell at the recommendation of a swagger. Saved a heap and it is working out really well. I feel Aircell is preferred because of easier installation costs, but if you read the specs it only works efficiently with an air gap which is hard to maintain between rafters.
Sheeting, went with thicker cladding only up one size and cost very little more. Make sure you compare the cladding thickness between brands.
Uprights, if I was doing it again I would spec heavier columns. The standard ones on my shed are very thin and twist easy compared to say the thickness used for roller door mullions.
Rafters I added an extra rafter and closed up the distance between them from 1100mm to 800mm again added SFA (I just purchased the top hat section and extra screws) and if you have to walk on the roof it makes a world of difference. But will also pretty much make Aircell inefficient (see above)
Roller doors, get good ones. All domestic doors are light pieces of crap today.
Good luck, its a great size shed you are proposing.

Well I tend to see a fair few sheds with work.
All have their good and bad points.
Titan, Precision, Ranbuild are typically of good designs.
Wide Span, Total Span, The Shed Company are also good.
Most issues come from poor workmanship in the erection of the shed.
Some shed companies are now members of the Shed Safe Program as well.
Cheers Kev

Thanks for the thoughts. I have sent off for a few quotes now taking the above in mind and will see how I go.
There are just so many companies these days its hard to see the difference at times. Thanks

We have a 12x9 Ranbuilt 4.5 high.
She'd quality is good. I think our kit came from Sunshine Coast.
Wouldn't recommend the knob jockey who built it though. Still fighting with him.

We have a car port from these guys at the pistol club in Caboolture. Seems to be good quality and they can design exactly what you want, also supporting a local business.

No ties to these guys other than I spoke to the installers and the owner when it was getting put up and they seemed passionate about supplying a good product and giving good service.

Mate, what sort of prices are you hearing? I'm about to do the same thing on a property on the sunny coast in a couple of months. Wondering what I should budget for similar size.

Still waiting for quotes to come in, should have at least one tomorrow. Im hoping for some where around 20K but have no idea, Ive usually put my own sheds and garages up but nothing close to this size so Im guessing the labour will add up quickly.

So Ive now spoken with 3 companies and explained exactly what I want and emailed 1 website and haven't received a quote yet. Was told by 2 companies Ill get the quote out in the next couple of hours yesterday and thand still no reply. Is the industry that busy at the moment or am I just unlucky? Frustrating when the wife is trying to work out extras for the house and I cant even give a rough idea of what Im looking at spending.
Has anyone built something similar to what I have described above and willing to let me know a rough price? Pm if preferred, Just need a ball park figure. Thanks

A word of warning.
Apply logic and a touch of sensible thought.
The tin shed industry is highly competitive. I know Engineers who a have left the industry simply because of the demand to drive to standards too low for them to accept.
One of the areas which came under close scrutiny after Cyclone Yasi was the disproportionate number of shed failures.Do a search and I think you will find some interesting information.
There is some generally good information given previously in this thread which I recommend you seriously consider.
In the shed industry bigger members, heavier and more expensive (relatively and closely assessed/compared) generally seems to equate to a more "long-term' fit for purpose product.

Not confined to northside - but check out ShedZone located at blacksoil.
Excellent sheds, excellent customer service. You won't regret it.

We used Sheds Galore in Ormeau who ship anywhere, with the money they save on not advertising they are able to up the quality and reduce the price.

Had 2 sheds on conc slabs built in 2010 for a total around $45 grand from memory.
One 12.8x6.5 with full front 1.5 awning (3 x 3.2m vehicle bays + work area) I also had an extra load bearing awning beam engineered in to get rid of the middle awning post for ease of vehicle access.
The other is 14x7.5 with 3 x 3.5m bays, 1x open bay roof only & with rear doors on 2 of the bays for drive in/drive out.
No photos sorry but could get some later if wanted ?
So many out there ??? ??? ;D

Thanks for the info Steve. Thats around what im expecting, still no quotes though so at this stage who knows.
I think I may have to take a day off and drive around to these places to get the quotes as we have now got a contract on our place so I need to work out what we are doing rather quickly, Id rather build the shed and use it for storage than pay $150 a week for a storage shed if possible.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and suggestions.

A big thanks to all above for the information. So after much debate on shed choices I decided to go with a Ranbuild Shed from Sunshine Garages and Sheds on the Sunny Coast. Had to downsize it also to a 12 X 9M to keep approvals in place and so on but once all signed off I will look at extending with an awning across the front.
It took 4 weekends to put it up and now is complete except for digging a trench and connecting up the stormwater.
Now I just need to wait another 7 weeks for the house to be finished being built and I can finally move in and start getting everything in order.
Cheers

Fantastic dale. 12 + mths on and Iam still very happy with the Ranbuild shed. They also stood by an issue with the roller door from steeline and saw that sorted as well.

Thanks Mate, I dont intend on moving from this house for 20 years so hopefully it will stand the test of time. Now just have to put up with another 7 weeks until the house is ready to move into.
Cheers
