Hi all, I've had one for about 10 years now ( resmed s7) so I'm now looking into replacing it with a new one, somethingtthat's more portable & camping friendly, preferably able to run on 12v & 240v.
So in the name of research I'm asking my swagger's what they have what they do and why?
Thanks Troy

Hi Troy,
I as yet do not have my cpap machine , but my brother does and when he is away camping he runs it of a pure sine wave inverter. I know of others as well who do this, but they do not run the humidifier as it will draw too much power.
There are some brands of machines out there that are 12/240 volt machines but they are all up in the big dollar bracket.

I have a CPAP that can run off 12V. Forget the model but it's quite a few years old - will be upgrading next year.

Hi
I have had the Resmed S9 Elite for about 5 months now and when camping I use the 12volt adaptor available from Resmed, think it was about $149 from memory(adaptor). I don't use the humidifier when on 12 volt as it drains the power
Machine cost about $1500 all up but cheaper if you want to get one from the USA here :

I have just bough the S9 with humidifier and climate control tube. What are peoples experience with not using the humidifier? I'm looking to get the DC adaptor and a generic hose so I can just use the pump without the humidifier when camping off the grid.

I have used mine camping without the humidifier and it was quite different, no warm air and at first a little uncomfortable
Doctor did suggest not to use it without humidifier for too many nights in a row

I never run the humidifier if I don't have 240 power, and have gone for a few weeks without it, it just leaves you with a drier throat, or that is just my experience.
I have only ever run my machine of the 12v 240v inverter and never had a problem.

I have the s9 and humidifier. I never use it, don't like using it. Haven't found a mask I can live with.
So if anyone wants a hardly used unit......

Think I might just stick with the full kit for consistency and am looking to run it from a 300w inverter mounted to the camper which can also be used for other items instead of just having a single purpose resmed 12v converter. Mandrake solar has just hooked me up with a 120w kit so hopefully will be able to recharge during the day when we are off the grid.
