We are about to go away camping on the Murray, nearly have everything packed and decided to check that the newly acquired portable BBQ 'fits' on the camping table we thought we'd use to stand it on...
Nope, BBQ is too wide.
What do you use to put your BBQ on?
We didn't purchase the dedicated stand as it would take up way too much room, the Mr of us is still wondering how to fit the BBQ in...

What bbq is it?
-
We have a Zeigler and Brown - BBQs galore version of webber Q with 2 burners.
-
You must have either a small camp table of large bbq. Our Weber Q fits on our small camp table. What surface area does it need?
-
Yeah, it's only a small camping table, one we bought when we first started tent camping, haven't used it for ages, thought it would be good.... It's one of those cheapies that have a slatted top and a fold out side table.
The BBQ needs 57cm by 50cm for the legs to be stable.

Bunnings have some good sized tables at very reasonable prices.
We use a folding blow-moulded table. Takes our Weber Q, and leaves plenty of room for other stuff as well.

i just bought the same one for our CT and have the same problem. Didn't want the stand and too big for stand I use.
Hoping the BBQ will fit in the walkway of our new Trackabout Safari. If not, it'll go on the back seat (no kids), or rear cargo area, or strap it onto the CT toolbox, or onto the roofrack. One way or another it's coming with us:-)
What I've done to solve the problem of the stand is cut a piece of white melamine timber board the same size as the legs of the bbq.
(Same as you find in most kitchen cupboards, available from bunnings etc)
I then sit this on my bbq stand and the place the Z&B onto it.
In my case the stand was only about 100mm short front to back, so the melamine board overhangs about 50mm each side and still quite stable as the legs of the stand are also wider than the top.
What part of the Murray are you going to. We're big fans of the Toc area.
I could be an obsessive compulsive forumeister meme'ster, just not sure.

Yep, hearing you Scarps, we thought we had plenty of room for BBQ, we are in a Kluger with no kids that will come camping.
In the last month, though, to add to our space considerations, we adopted an Irish Wolfhound from a Rescue Centre. Now, she's only 9 months old, but she takes up the whole back section of our car. We still have the back seat, and that's looking like the winner at the moment for where to transport the BBQ.
Regardless, we are fitting it in somewhere.... (it as in the BBQ!!)

As Geoff said we use a small foldable blow mould table that fits out Beefeater bugg on. It also sits along the back seat in the cargo area of my Kluger
