Title: mobile phone coverage on fraser island

Hi I was just wondering if anyoneknows if Optus has got their act together and providing mobile phone coverage on fraser Island or is telstra the only one?Geee i hope telstra do

We get telstra cover OK in quite a number of spots up there

Camping just north of the Cathedrals last month we had Telstra phone and internet coverage using a portable external aerial.

Is there any coverage around eurong village i would love to leave phone/internet at home but owning a small buisness with a few employes you have to know things are going ok the next trip some where depends on it

Think a lot depends on your phone too, the wifes 3G HTC would get limeted service out on the top of the dunes just north of the Maheno, my samsung was dead till I got to within a few klicks of Eurong on the beach, a mates I phone 4G thingy had limeted service in most places along the east coast  and north of Orchid beach.. Apparently the blue tic phones seem to get better coverage most times ..
There is a telstra tower at Eurong

If you have Telstra you will have good coverage around eurong and patchy reception all the way up to happy valley. if your up at waddy or orchid you will also get good reception.

Don't blame the carriers for dodgy coverage on Fraser though! blame the council  ???
