Title: How to stop Beer loses in the Fridge?
Post by: Daawl on September 10, 2013, 07:56:29 PM
Hi all

Its been a while since I have been on here but I have a question that holds true to most of us.
I have tried searching the forum but have not found anything thus far (more than likely my poor searching tbh)

I tend not to get breakages, usually its the bottle top that vibrates loose. I am sure there used to be a product out there but I cant find it.

As the title says, how do you all stop losses in your fridge while traveling?

Have you found a system that stops them loosing the golden liquid halfway through a days trip? If so, please share :)

Muchly appreciated.

The more you drink the less chance of loss.
I thought of this while having a beer so obviously the more you drink the smarter you get.

That's what I reckon...........
If you stop somewhere and drink it, you won't have a problem.

Now to get theological - Darwins theory proves that the weak die off. Medical science has proven that consuming alcohol kills brain cells, so by drinking, I'm killing off the weak needy brain cells and leaving the good ones to thrive.
You're experiment just proves it.......

On a serious note, I pack a bit of that foam interlocking flooring "stuff" cut to size to fit the base of the inside of the fridge.
It seems to work. I had a lids off on the rougher tracks, but not since doing that.

Yea, I'm afraid I also agree. Also no chance of glass breakage and easy to squash and take out with you.

MSA sell a pack of thin neoprene covers for cans, to stop them rubbing through in rough conditions. Cans are easier to dispose of than bottles too.

Downside is that it takes more planning to ensure you can get a beer you like IN cans.

I drink cans when camping, less breakages, can fit more in fridge. Also the beer i drink is only 330ml in bottles and 375 in cans, win win.

You've finally found a benefit of the independent rear suspension in the Pajero :)

Never had the problem. Just come back from the Cape and Gibb River Road and didn't spill a drop. Only time I have had a leek was from a can that rubbed whilst still in its plastic wrap but it wasn't in the fridge at the time.

Depends how long they are in the fridge. The sooner you drink them the less chance they have to wear through!

yeah corrugations wears through the bases of cans. Pre-loading then in stubby holders (or as also suggested, rubber bands) seems to help  8)

I've found the cardboard 6 pack packaging from Crownie stubbies work well in the fridge as can separators.
They last well, too....

I buy cans but in the 24 packs as opposed to a block as each 6 pack is plastic wrapped. Never had any issues since going this way. Also better for stacking the fridge....:-)

There you go. Mine only ever last a day and are refilled each day as per Doctors orders.

Cans for us as well.
Takes less space when empty.

Stubbies in the plastic wrap will stop the caps from dislodging.

My guess is that caps that need an opener, ie proper crown seals, will not come off in the fridge.

The twist top caps are marginal at best so change brands or get cans

Cans here as well. The risk of broken glass in the bush is a hazard we can all do without.

I saw the title of this thread and thought my son must have visited your house. ;D
I prefer to drink out of bottles but for big trips drink cans like others have said.

Thank you for all the suggestions, the beers never stay in very long at all but we have had some times where one it two have been lost to lid displacement.

Unfortunately the beer of choice is not in cans so that idea is out.

The Tap King looks brilliant and may have too look at that for future.

Liking the idea of simply putting foam on the bottom of the fridge to reduce vibrations.

Now I will have to go have another beer to ponder
