You can just call up and say g'day, it's so close. Moonee is lovely, though the front slopes more than is reasonable for a camp ground.

yep as Bigjules says, it is only 90 min from Moonee on the tar to where the meet is...
love Moonee... just 6km up the road !!

Campervan New Zealand - United 4 Berth Auto. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQB8gtFST5I#ws)
3rd time motorhoming in NZ since 2009, and have sniffed out all you need to know regarding which ones are the best to get over the years...and in the low season (up until Oct), there are good deals on. Picked this up for $80Au/day - gets a fully self contained, gas heated (can park away from power) motorhome. Bamm! No packing up, stop and eat where you want - transport & accommodation in one :cup:
Will need to watch approach & departure angles, and the ramp-over is poo......
I guess it's a lowered motorhome!!
Nutto

Is there many free camping spots over there Nutto, or do you have to stop over in caravan parks etc ..Looking at going to the Warbirds over Wanaka in the near future then doing a bit of touring ? . ..
-

bugger all free camping these days, they have clamped down on that, but the Dept of Conservation (DOC sites) range from free (rare) to $6p.p ($3 kids). Equiv or our nat parks over here but heaps cheaper.
We'll be doing a mixture of both, as some days we will need to plug in to get a good charge into the 2nd batt and to do washing
save this link as it as a cracker in terms off all camp sites - paid & free
