Across the road from my place is the Yarramundi paddocks, so we're only about 3ks from the Castlereagh fire. We are expecting a SW change soon so that will make things a bit interesting here. Hopefully the wind will die down and give the firies a break. Never a dull moment.

Castlreagh Londondery fires are a worry...
Mates place in Berkshire park,, on the border of the Bligh park fire.. looks bad from his yard.. got the horse float hooked up ready... But the fire around Londondery is the worry,, as the wind is blowing in his direction...
Very worrying times...

If it gets near our place I'll be baiting it with bales of hay. If we lost everything we'd take the insurance payout and be off on the big lap.

Panic box, Snowcave and Martin guitar ready to go if needed.  ;D Thanks for the thought Wes.

We have a fair bit of open paddock between us and the wooded areas so defending the street would be fairly straight forward. The temp here is starting to drop and the breeze is backing off so hopefully we won't be threatened.

We have quite a few friends with place under threat so we are hoping they will be right.

You know I'm an insurance investigator, don't you???

Nah, boring old tradie unfortunately, but I reckon I would just use the money to build a bigdonkey shed and then hit the road..........

The weather has settled and cooled down and I don't think we have any worries here now. The fire up on Hawkesbury Heights and Winmalee is causing mucho headache though.

The RFS FB page has some good info. https://www.facebook.com/#!/nswrfs (https://www.facebook.com/#!/nswrfs)

Should be right Steve, saw last night they were letting resindents back into Yellowrock and even had Journos there taking pics. It's going to keep burning down in the valley because as you know that country is hard to stop fires in?  I am in Melbourne at the moment  but when back If you need anything checked out flick us a PM Iam not far from you.

Big fires and it is still 'winter' in the technical sense - just as it is still 'officially' summer in the Northern Hemisphere.

A bushfire has shut down the M1 motorway north of Sydney following a backburning operation in the area.
NSW Fire & Rescue Superintendent Ian Krimmer said firefighters were trying to put out the fire near the Mandalong Road interchange.

"Crews have requested the motorway to be closed," he said on Thursday afternoon.
