Title: What's the best camp area on Yorke Peninsula?
Post by: Paul (SA) on September 10, 2013, 12:46:36 PM
I am going to YP with the wife and two boys, aged 6 and 4. We are keen for fishing and bike riding and looking for a quiet, shady place with plenty of privacy.

Is there any place on Yorkes that you would recommend for a young family?

Cheers, Paul

Not sure about shady or good for riding bikes, but Butlers Beach is a top spot for fishing.

I have stayed at Shell Beach and really enjoyed it. Campsite we had was pretty private with cars parked across entrance.

There is a great walk to the west along the cliff tops towards Royston Head that if you continue ends up at a secluded beach near North Island. Have fun  ;D

Anywhere in the Innes national park is good and I believe you can fish off the jetty at Stenhouse bay, but being a NP it does not allow pets and you have to pay a camping fee, otherwise there are some good camping spots around Gleeson's landing but not sure of what fishing is available.

Hi, I work at Yorke Peninsula Visitor Information Centre, if you'd like to email me at info@visityorkepeninsula.com.au I can email you back some information. It's beautiful over here at this time of year; the wildflowers are out, there's emu chicks around and everything is green and gorgeous!
Cheers,
Cathy
