Help is required from all travellers who visited Innaminka from Wednesday 4th Sep 2013.
We hit the road on our Central Australia trip with two other families last Saturday 31st Aug 2013.
We left Innaminka on Wednesday 4th Sep 2013, but we fuelled up first. Just prior to fueling up, my wife took all her rings, (5) including wedding ring, eternity ring and engagement ring off to rub cream into her hands, placing the rings in her lap.
For some reason, she has got out of the vehicle, forgetting the rings which have then fallen on the ground somewhere near the fuel bowsers at Innaminka.
She didn't realise this until we got to Cameron Corner, searching the seat and turning her side of the car upside down, before telling me. It was a quite trip for the next 300km.
We have spoken to the General store at Innaminka, but nobody has handed them in as yet. It was a very busy few days at Innaminka with the races and people travelling onto Birdsville for their races.
Can I ask if anybody finds these rings, which are very important to both my wife and I, could you get in contact with me. There will be a reward for their return.
Thanks
Frostd

Thanks guys. Nick, if you could put it up on that Facebook page, it would be appreciated. I can't seem to log on. The wife spoke to Innaminka this morning, but still no good. Oh well the trip must go on. Off to Arkaringa today.

That's sh!t, I hope you find them!

Can just imagine how devastated she must be feeling. :'(
Any chance they're covered under your house and contents insurance?? Doesn't mean much sentimentally, but at least you won't be as much out of pocket if you choose to replace.
Dee.
-
That's devastating.. :'(
Best of luck finding them..
-
I'm sure your wife is feeling devastated. Some things are sentimental and therefore irreplaceable. I had a number of sentimental items stolen in a home robbery and even though they were covered by insurance, I was unable to replace a lot of it. I hope that someone honest found them and recognises the significance of the items they have found. It seems unusual that they didn't hand them in at the petrol station. I would continue trying to get the information out there. Not knowing the area you were in at all, are you able to notify the local police station or ask the petrol station to put a flyer up with your details on it? Good luck! Fingers crossed for a good result........and soon.
-
Who do you hand lost property to when you find it ?
Report this loss to the local Police Station ASAP = Good luck in getting them back !
-
And anybody who dosent hand in important finds like this is guilty of stealing by finding!!! how could you live with yourself if you didn't take every effort to find the owner!!!!
-
Geez Terry that's no good, i hope you have some luck in getting them back. hope you don't mind, i've started a thread on several other forums also asking for help to locate them for you.
i hope the rest of your trip is going along without incident mate.
cheers.
-
Sadly they'd be at Crime Converters by now.
-
If you've pics of the items post them up so they show up on Google. I hope they are returned to you.
Several years ago we found a ladies purse. Called her from her details. 10 mins of talking had her convinced that we had her purse. When she came to pick it up she couldn't believe all the cash was still there. She forced us to accept Dreamworld vouchers.
3 days later we are walking through the mall and there is $50 on the ground with no one around.
Carma.
5 months later I'm at the market. I've just taken $1k out of the ATM. A few mins later a women comes up to me asking strange questions.
I put my wallet down earlier to pick something up and walked off and she tracked me from my licence photo.
I guess what I'm trying to say is I hope the right person finds it.
-
Good luck with the rings mate, hopefully there are still some honest people out there.

-
hey Frostd...did you try contacting the SA Parks people there also, or even the Police at Birdsville to see if anyone handed them in at all?
i know chances are slim that happened, but it's atleast worth a couple of calls to try and find out if you haven't done so mate.
-
I keep checking in on this thread, in case there's some good news.
Good luck with your search. Here's hoping they've been picked up by the right sort of person.
-
I also wonder if they are simply squashed into the dirt around the pumps or similar?
I hope so Terry. Sort of know how you feel all be it not as bad but we lost Viv''s ring with your guys in Bendethera, I really hope you get them back, I know they mean a lot to you and Deb. Best of luck

Just listening to radio, rings found outside pub near bowsers, if you ring radio station on 131269 they can put you in touch with lady who found them.
-
That would be great news.

How often is Frostd on this forum? Does someone have his phone number to ring and pass on this message about the radio station?
-
I dont know him but just sent him a PM in case he get notifications.

I just phoned Terry & passed on the info as above. He is very grateful for the info being picked up & posted, here's hoping it's a winner for Deb & her rings are returned.

So not cash converters this time. Just as well that the OP wasn't a pessimist and thought the worst. Great to see that his ability to hope was justified, and that the MySwag network may have played some part in the news getting to him and his wife. :cup:

Thanks everybody for your help. Thanks Bullfrog for the phone call today. We are still on our adventure, nearing its end Currently in Port Augusta, heading for Broken Hill tomorrow.
Deb spoke to Newcastle Radio 2HD just after lunch today. She described the rings to them and a few other things to make sure it was ours and to satisfy the finder. The radio station are going to send us the finder details, so we can get in touch with her. It is amazing how well the My Swag community works, with my initial message going out to many other forums and facebook. Thanks again to everybody who passed on the message. Will post up some pics when we get them back.
Relieved Frostd :)

We are home from the Epic Central Australia Tour - The lady who found Deb's rings lives on the Gold Coast and she spoke to her today. We have arranged to meet tomorrow to collect them. I will have the camera with me for the return photographs. Stay tuned!!
-
I bet you's are relieved that a honest citizen found the rings and not someone else who would only see the $$$$ signs and pawned them for a fraction of the value ( which for you's would be priceless). It will be a very heartwarming re union I bet when the rings are handed back and hopefully a small reward of course for the honest lady

I reckon there'll be tears of joy...... ;D ;D
So glad it's all ended well for you. :cup: :cup:

Today, Deb and I met with Roma, who found Deb's wedding, Engagement, eternity and a special emerald ring, she lost at Innaminka on 4th Sep 2013. Roma was a lovely, genuine lady, who was on a bus trip to the Birdsville races from Victoria with some friends. It came about the bus wasn't going to leave Innaminka as early as first thought because of the line of vehicles wanting fuel. Roma and her friend decided to walk up from the town common to the hotel/store and get the bus from there. As Roma was walking across the large parking area, as everybody knows of, she first saw one ring on the dusty ground, and then her friend found another ring and so on until all four rings were found in about half a metre.
After talking to Roma, it appears, she found the rings within 30 minutes after Deb lost them. After Roma found the rings, she spoke to the barmen at the pub and when she made Birdsville for the races, put up signs in the local pub and toilets, as she thought we may have been heading that that.
When she returned to Victoria with her friends, she tried to find a national radio station, but it was not until she returned to the Gold Coast, that she used the station she normally listens to. She contacted Meryl Swanson on a radio station out of Newcastle, who broadcasts state wide.
Meryl spoke about the rings for some time and then one of the swaggers (73coupe) heard this conversation and posted on the thread, Bullfrog - Bevan, a mate of mine, phoned me, whilst I was fuelling up in Port Augusta. Deb rang the radio station straight away and this is the link to the on air conversation http://chirb.it/Ka57qg ( hope it works) if not here is Meryl's facebook page, where you can find the same link https://www.facebook.com/pages/Meryl-Swanson/309053992482798.
Yes, so Deb was reunited with her rings, with one relieved husband and very relieved wife.
Picture is of Roma and Deb, with the rings on her fingers, where they belong.
-
Congratulations........a great result and I'm sure, a VERY relieved wife :)
-
Played for the bride and she had a tear, how great is that

Just sitting here with wifey and she noticed the signs in the toilets at Birdsville
If only I spent more time on myswag (Internet was crap) whilst in Birdsville rather than the pub
