Title: Light Bars
Post by: maverick01 on August 31, 2013, 11:22:43 AM
Im looking at buying a light bar for the front of our GU to go with the 2 spotlights we currently have.

Although some may say to go and change them to HIDs, Although that's a great idea but last time a I had HIDs they usually take around 5-10seconds to light up to there full potential. Now I now that isn't that long but the roads I drive to and from work are NO good for HIDs or the spots I currently have.

I plan on keeping the spots and adding a light bar to give the flood that I require.

The problem im facing is that there are so many different brands of light bars ranging from absolute crap to what seems excellent quality.

I was down at the Tigerz11 store in Slacks Creek and they have there lights which seem ok but them they also had the Baja Design lights and they seem so much better but there triple the price but is the light output that much better.

Im hoping someone from here can point me in the wright direction.

If anyone has any photos of how they have fitted the light bar to there GU that would be greatly appreciated.

Have heard that the ones Mcgirr is selling http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=31064.0 (http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=31064.0) are pretty good.

A few people have brought them on here im sure there's at-least 1 with a GU will have picked them up.

Good luck.

Thanks nick.

I have read about his light bars but like everything I buy, Ideally I would like to see them in action if I can.

So has anyone bought a light bar and from Logan area, Bris southside that I could swing buy and have a look at and see how they perform.

I would recommend doing your homework as I did before selling the led light bars.

The 10 watt crees only require one row to push out the 120watts so are more compact.

This will help on installing them

I dont know much about them but i have a Baja Designs 22" ONYX LED bar - and i love it, only last week i drove from Townsville to Brisbane and back at night and it lit the road up so well, i could spot those big Roos well in advance.

They are expensive how ever.  Ive never had any ohter light bar so i cant say what the comparison is like. but compared to my HID spotties on my ute, the difference is amazing.

Cheers

Do any light bars come in 4300K? ( i want to match my HIDS which are 4300k)
All the ones I have seen have been 6000K or 6500K colour temperature.

Cheers

Mark just a general enquiry but how do yours compare to others out there such as the cheap and nasty crap through to the Baja designs ( I'm only assuming there good due to the price)

I can't comment on other brands as I have never used them. It depends on what LEDs are used. The ones I sell are Cree lights, one of the best available led on the market.

The top end brands would have different technology, hence the price difference. If you tested most led light bars it would be hard to justify the large price comparisons.

I know that everyone who has bought one is happy with the light and its output.

I would be more than happy to send one to you and if your happy with it, Pay for it, if not send it back.

Send me a pm with your name and address.

I purchased a light bar off McGirr, I have nothing but the highest of compliments and recommendations for doing business with him  :cup:

Made contact with a few questions last Tuesday, ordered later that day.
Had a call that afternoon to say it was on the way, tracking number emailed so I could follow its journey to me   8)

Arrived this morning at 9:30 am. I spent this arvo bolting it on and wiring it up.

When I finished off, I grabbed the wife and said come for a quick drive....... her words when I flicked it on

"HOLY Shit ITS LIKE DAYLIGHT!!!!!"

To say we are impressed is an understatement.

Here are a few pics of the difference....

Low Beam
