Looks like Ford have done to the Ranger what Mitsubishi did with the Triton, creating the Challenger, Holden/Izuzu with the Colorado7 from the ute.
It will be interesting to check out when it hits our shores in 2015.
-
I'm also looking forward to checking it out when it is released, especially as the new Pathfinder is going soft
-
NNNIIICCCEEE piece of machinery, might be time to pass down the supercab to the boy when i finally don't have the need to have a tray vehicle anymore.
-
Must admit they have done a nicer looking job than the Challenger and the Colorado 7 ....
-
I can already see the problem with it, is starts with the blue oval in front. >:D >:D >:D ;D

REAAAAAAAAAAAAAALY 2015????? thats far too long to wait. lol something better will probably be out by then.
I heard a rumor that both the F-truck and mustang are making a reappearance at the ford dealers sometime this decade?....
I could quite happily drive a ford raptor, snapped chassis and all :cup:

They had to replace the Territory with something
-
Is it just me or does it look pretty much like a Territory with some balls??

I love the look. I am huge fan of the upspec Ranger's, and if this is the new styling for them they'll get even better looking.
It does seem to lack some room in the rump though, but I reckon it will be handy offroad.

I'm wondering how they are going to fit an extra 2 seats in to make it a seven seater. No luggage space??
-
Will the Everest be the replacement for the Territory? If based on the Ranger, should be better off road and overall I guess.

I like it, except for the blue oval :)
-
yup, i like, but doubt i'ld buy one
as already said no room in the back........... Colorado 7 has none, this wont either
only new car i would look at the moment would be a Y61, (or Y62 or 200 series if i had the $$)

Just read that it's going to be late 2015
-
7 seats, no gear.
This is the Territory replacement, hence the release date or they have to kill the Territory early.
-
Sort of makes you think that Ford had plans for killing off production in Oz for quite a few years doesn't it?
-
Toyota might be bringing the FORTUNER to aussie shores too.
Only a rumour based on the hilux
-
Hmmm I like it ;D
But I have just ordered a Ranger ???
That's ok bloody Julia and Kevin played with the FBT rules that much I have gone to a commercial vehicle >:(

Whats with the photo of the territory?
-
All the design was done in Australia
-
I don't think this is the Territory, I think the plan is to have a full SUV line up. This is the Prado, Colorado, Challenger Pathfinder competition. The Territory won't be full 4wd and sit against the Kluger, CX9 etc. They will have smaller ones against the Rav 4...
Problem is, no Falcon :( Not all of us can fit the family in a Mustang...
My perfect dream garage consisting of a Disco 5 and a GT won't be around for long.

So like the ranger, the drivers side footwell is smaller than the passenger, the wheel changing gear is only accessible from the road side of the car, but fully designed in Australia.
Sorry, just a couple of gripes I have with mine.
-
Won't be Pathfinder competition as new Pathy to be released later this year will not have low range & will have CVT transmission & 3.5L petrol engine only

Here is more detail...

I must be getting old and loosing my eye sight or sumptin but all these bloody new cars are looking the same, I guess thats why the badges are getting bigger so we can tell them apart but that ford whatever looks like a challenger mitsubooshi
-

Funny about that, I'd say decision made 2008 when they also diverted the focus production line bound for Australia to Thailand.
-
All the design was done in Australia
150-200 Aussies employed for 12 mths designing it compared with thousands of Thais employed continuously building it . Ford spin marketing at its best.
-

I'd say it was the day after they received their megamillion dollar grant.
-
Apparently, Mazda have no plans to put their badge on it. Let's see.

I like it. And I reckon it'd go OK off road too, live rear axle and all.
Yeah, it looks like a territory, but that's OK - the new terries don't look too bad. All the manufacturers are going to a Corporate Face anyway - the BT50 looks just like a Mazda 3 (If you squint. Hard.).
My understanding is that it's not the Territory replacement, but, as others have said, to compete against the Prado, Challenger and Colorado7. I believe that Ford are looking to bring in the Flex or Edge as a bitumen-based crossover. I'd buy a Flex, but only if I coudl get it with fake wood panelling. What I've heard is that the Explorer has been ruled out, along with the F-Trucks. We've already got the Kuga as the low-end SUV/Crossover, so these two new models complete the market segment.
I'm disappointed in the "not till late 2015" availability. As has been said, that's a long time to ceed the lead to the opposition. If I was Ford, I'd be prioritising this to get it here ASAP.
Can't wait to see it start to pop up in showrooms, and to get some local test drives/reviews.
Cheers,
Matto :)

Looks really nice, but I never buy the first of anything.....
Wait till someone else works out which wheels fall off and what needs fixing.
Perhaps in 4 years time when I trade the playdo?
Would love to know what's turning the gearbox.....Would it too much to ask for a 4.0 turbo diesel with a 3" exhaust on it and a 200 litre tank ???
Just a thought ;D

As it based upon their current Ranger ute, I would guess it would be their 5 cylinder 3.2 litre diesel.

The Everest is built on the T6 platform (Ranger), so will probably offer the same range of engines. The 2.2 and 3.2 lt diesels.

Are they serious with just welding 2 different cars together? Sorry after seeing the photo I couldn't bring myself to read the article

What's wrong with just welding 2 cars together.
At least they haven't pretended that they haven't.
Take a look through the classified adds for 4wd's and you'll see a stack of low km, immaculate vehicles at prices you can hardly believe.
Generally for private sale, and sadly sometimes made up of more than 1 car.
Talk to the guys that do auto inspections, they have have had some scary run in's when trying to work out if it's ok or doggy.
I've even met cops how have brought a vehicle that turned out to be made up from more than 1 source vehicle.
-
Ford = Found On Rubbish Dump, so that fits welding two cars together. ;D
