Evening fellow swaggers, The fiancé and I are getting married the end of Oct this year. We are looking at doing a couple of nights glamping and then going out for a week in the camper. Anyone done glamping around Brisbane, any recommendations?
Cheers

Just using a modern camper trailer would defenetly be classed as glamping by many ppl.

Congrats on getting married but never heard of glamping , although it sounds like something my cousin and his 'life partner' would partake in - not that there's anything wrong with that (seinfeld)

Would someone please explain "Glamping", I have never heard of it.

Murphys creek tents are nice , and spicers also has glamping up at cunninghams gap.
Having seen some of the ct setups this weekend at queen Mary falls there are plenty of glamorous campers ....
Cheers chippy :)

Murphy's Creek tents are nice. Hasting Point also have Safari Tents that would be nice to stay in and it's a great spot. Thought about my parents using them while we camp there in the CT.

Napanangka has just made me laugh, as she has given me an image of a camper with make up on, I am still totally baffled with this one.

Your kind of camping to us would be roughing it to the max for us..
Imagine a motel unit, but with a tent instead of bricks etc. like a house..
Glamping is camping but using a luxury tent with very comfy bed, glasses with champaign, instead of plastic or steel mugs or cans of booze. Very comfy bed instead of air mattress that slowly deflates during the night, also having a private loo instead of behind the tree withfresh air and a nice view..hahaha..
Thats glamping as far as i know..
Glamorous camping..
Not really camping to most of us here..

If it came down to "Clamping" or this joint in the photos posted by Chester above, camping wouldn't stand .00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance.

Droll, so very very droll. Thanks for your contribution.

Yeah mate I checked it out they are both just a stones throw from each other. The water gets its clarity from the fact that in the atols you are not walking on sand it is all actually finely crushed coral so no sediment

I've always known "glamping" as heading bush and camping, but with the absolute essentials...TV - DVD Player - those gaming console things the kids need these days - hair dryer - Internet connection - Laptops etc etc etc.
And also those in their $100,000 + hotels on wheels, with all the bells n whistle, that park in the caravan parks, in the middle of - name a town - and call it camping...but I could be wrong ;)

I guess then we don't really camp at all, as we just chuck our swags on the ground, make a fire, and we are right for the night. Basically the same as we do here at home anyway. When we rough it, we have no blankets or swag, we just light as fire and camp on the ground, but that only happens when we have a break down. Not that bad really, and I always use my boots for a pillow anyway, so have some comfort.

Wouldnt the boots be uncomfy as a pillow??

No, the boots are actually quite comfortable, just have to block the odour sometimes...and no, we do not use the didgeridoo in the desert, that is a coastal thing.

Yep ... every fortnight where possible. I have an Aussie Swag and that's the most Glamour Camping I've ever done.

P.S. Murphy's sent me a prospectus for those luxury tents ... they sure do cost a few bob! Apparently they only make them in South Africa??

Moreton Island have just started to offer this option

Well to be honest I think we are glampers as we have all the mod cons when camping. We don't always use them but if the weather turns to crap or the wife is crook then some of those creature compforts makes her a little more relaxed. Those that are not well and have been through a lot would understand that if you get my drift. Never use a generator when others are around etc.
