As most would know, it ran agound 40 years ago and in 2007 (i think) what was aabove the sand line was cut up and removed.
Well, with the recent erosion and weather, the ol girls poking out again. (I HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH THOUGH)
Based on that, i would expect the beach conditions to be a bit average.
Once we get back from 1770, we might go over and suss it out.
If anyones never seen it before, now is ya big chance.

The Cherry Venture aint no Titanic ,,, it sounds as though it just won't stay down :cup:

Shit hey........shame the weather is so crap I would go and have a look. Beach is still only 2 hours either side atm for most of the beach.
I wonder ho many bbq plates in Noosa and Rainbow were cut from her.

not as well made as the Maheno either

Its a shame they used the Meheno for bombing practice, she'd look good still there in one piece.

You you you VANDEL you !!!! just look at the way you destroyed that pristine dune ...LOL..Better cover up that number plate Rod or the greenies might track you down ..
Ohh the memories of those Landies and the places they have been driven too near destruction .... Thank god for the R.A.E.M.E blokes.
What a shame they cut so much steel out of the Cherry Venture and weakened her structure, was always a good stop off on the way to Fraser .
Thanks for the photo's ..

"Maheno" around about the same time. Sorry about the quality but, as us old farts would know, the plastic page cover in the photo album (What?) has become a bit gluey over time. ::)

Shite.
Where's the ice cream man?. I'm probably in that 1st photo.
And that dune was a lot of fun. As was the sand blow at this end of the track.
Lindsay(slider) from Teewah says the beach is back to mid 70's condition and the 40 year build up of the foredune has all been undone.

Unfortunately all the exposed beaches on the Sunshine Coast are probably similar............sand comes sand goes.
The worst is Bribie though. THere will be a Bribie North and South before to long.
-
Going up Teewah / DI next week so will post some pics. I never saw the Cherry Venture and what's left of the Maheno is interesting, but far from impressive. It's a shame it was bombed to nothing, otherwise it would still be really something to see.

So the popular story goes Squalo, the RAAF only got one hit on the Maheno.... Z force commando's training on the island during WW2 did a bit more damage with mines and demolitions etc .
