Dunns Swamp will be really cold, worse than Newnes or Lake Lyell. All lovely spots though.
What about Myall River at Tea Gardens? Or Seals Rocks? Tiona Park or Lani's on the south side of Forster. Slightly further but coastal and so warmer.

Thanks guys for the suggestions will have a look and see how I go.
The delivery of the CT maybe a little later than I thought ,not by much, but still.

Is it your 1st time camping?
Do you need amenities ?
Do you need power ?
Do you want to pay ?
There are heaps of places around, and depending on your above criteria, we'll supply you with a few places ..
-
First time with the CT
Not to worried about amenities or power.
Paying is not a consideration rather just be easy for the first time .
Thanks

Glenworth Valley was handy; so close, hardly anyone else around.

We used to camp at Upper Colo Reserve on long weekends for years with a group of families from our local area. Kids have all grown up now(those that we toddlers at the beginning of the camping ventures are now at uni!) Loved it! So much to do for the kids, swimming, exploring etc. They always kept themselves busy and us parents got the down time we needed. :-) We even funded, bought and planted all the natives you will see planted around the grounds!!
Great memories....

Cudgegong Waters Park on the Windemere Dam near Mudgee is nice with acres of area to chose a camp site ,fires ,amenities etc trips into Mudgee for Food and Wine

Although closer to your home you can't beat Narrabeen Big 4 for a caravan park
also a tick from me is Burralow as suggested above

Hi Jeff,
We spent 5 days at Jimmys Beach a couple of months back. North side of the bay from Nelson Bay (Tea Gardens)
Recently renovated, with really nice facilities, great level powered and unpowered sites, about 2.5 hours drive from home.
Good access to the bay and close walk to beach. Really good fishing..... caught the best flathead of my life off the beach.
I would highly recommend it as a shakedown trip.
