Post by: UIZ733 on June 15, 2013, 09:40:58 AM
Any comments on these:

Looking to use it as a freezer only.
I have had good experiences with the seller, so that is not a problem.
Regards

We've had one for approx. 12 months and it has been used as a freezer in our camper for most trips and at home as a bar fridge when not on the road. I leave it set on -5 degrees for the beer and it has been great. From memory we paid $475.00 for it last year. The brand name on ours is Evacool but its exactly the same as he OP has shown. We have just got back from the Vic high country last week and on arrival at home found it sitting on -13 Degrees. Had it set on -5 but for some reason it went down to -13 and I lost 1 stubby out of 5. Not bad as the other 4 were still intact. Since then the fridge has not done it again so must have just had a hiccup from some rough travelling or something. I'd recommend it as a good cheap fridge/freezer for the price.
Cheers
Daz.

We ordered a 60L techniice fridge. I was watching eBay for a while as they have a shop on there.
We ended up getting ours for only $440. It should turn up tomorrow.
I checked all the reviews I could find on it and so far so good
Time will tell I guess, but considering what I paid I'm happy so far.

Cheers

Well it turned up today, so when I get home I will take some photos and put up an initial review on a new thread so its easy to find for future reference.

Love the fridge, but it doesn't fit in my camper.
It is actually about 13mm taller than the measurements that were advertised which has stuffed me lol.
Ahh well, now I have to work out if I'm going to sell the camper or the fridge haha.

Cheers

My 45L arrived yesterday. Just threw a few beers in to make sure it ran ok. It's so quiet I can't hear it running. I will have to wait to go camping to do some tests on power consumption etc but so far so good. For what I need and waht I paid for it, I'm happy!

The fridge has arrived. Put some meat and a couple of bottles of water in, set it to-10C...........................................................................and this morning everything is rock solid. My initial impressions are that this is a well made, well designed sturdy unit. Build quality leaves the Waeco we had, for dead.
Exceptionally pleased  (particularly when the "extras" are included) with the purchase. $399.20 delivered to my door.

How old was your Waeco? I find the build quality of our Waeco excellent. Hasn't missed a beat in a couple of years running non-stop and sturdy as the proverbial. Much more energy efficient compared to the chinese/Evacool unit we have that I mentioned earlier in this thread. The Waeco uses much less power to achieve the same cooling times and temps I have found.
Cheers.

18 months old. Disliked the lid on the thing immensely and found the slider arrangement for temp setting and control poor. It did not have a basket or interior light or temperature gauge and cost $150 more.

Fair enough. Mine has the digital set gauge and basket with light. I can see how you would not favour that one you had. Its those extras that make life with a fridge so much better. Enjoy the new one mate it should give years of dedicated service. Excellent price too by the way.
