ok so last night Chantelle had to take Kathleen (our 6wo) to wodonga hospital at about 7pm,
Then they decided to move Kath to Albury Base hospital by ambulance at 2am because they aren't set up for what she needs.
Now tell me this, why on earth didn't they just send her there straight away instead of waiting till the wee hours of the morning? Grrrrrrr
Will find out today if we need to go to RMCH.... Don't know whats wrong with my little girl yet and I think that is why I was so grumpy about the move. fingers crossed.............

At least you werent laying on a trolley (not even a bed) in a corridor with 1 sheet over you freezing your tits off for 18 hours...
-
Mate, thinking of you. Nothing worse than having a child who is sick and not knowing why? Hope Kathleen gets well soon.

Thanks mate, its pretty rough, at 6 weeks old she has only put on 100 grams in the last few weeks.....
And she isn't wanting to feed. Plus she now has an infection and a heart murmur.

Thanks buddy, I passed it on to the girls. Chan laughed and said she's looking forward to you coming up and putting the patrol to shame with your cruiser. ;D
I just smiled and nodded. ;) best not to argue with her now. Lol

Too early at this point. She has an ultrasound and a scan booked in for this afternoon, we will hopefully know more after that. That will let us know if we have to go to Melbourne or not.

From one father to another, hope what ever it is that the little one has is soon sorted and remember if you need help or a person to talk to do not be scared to let people know. Holding it in will cause you more grief than anything else. All the best.

Cute kid, i sure hope she's ok.
Does she have a busted wrist?

Thoughts with you EVO there is nothing worse mate, we went through it with our youngest and it turned out to be a simple thing in the end mate. Lets just hope your journey is similar and she is running around giving you cheek before you know it !

Good to see the little one is doing better!!
I hate even going away for work, let alone over seas for 9 months for work and knowing the little ones are sick for no reason.

Haha mate!....... I just about shat bricks when I walked into the hospital this morning. I thought the same thing.
Its actually covering a small soft splint to stop her moving her wrist with the cannula in. (And to stop her from pulling it out)

Thanks mate, we are hoping for the simple thing. But it isn't looking promising unfortunately. The bug count in her test was far too high. :(
But positive thinking is power so fingers crossed.

All the best for the little one, and make sure you send the wife for some down time as they can tend to beat themselves up if its not good news but say they are ok. Thinking of you all.

All the best mate
Its bloody hard at that age they cant tell you where they hurt
-
Hope things improve soon. You can tell a lot from the foot of the bed. Looking at her photo, from a medical perspective; she is a good colour, good posture and taking in her surroundings. Doesn't look too bad. (Its the pale, floppy, zoned-out ones you worry about.)
Good luck for tomorrow.
Dr Patr80l.

Best of luck, I hope you don't but if you end up in RCH let us know.

She's a different girl to what she was last night which is promising. (couldn't bring myself to take a photo of her last night)

Thanks mate will do. The scans are booked in for 9am tomorrow so we should finally know if we have anything to seriously worry about.
Unfortuantely the strength of her infection is leading the doctors to believe that the valve between the kidney and bladder isn't working properly. Which can be a bit of a worry.
Not sure on the Heart murmur yet, they are constantly checking it but we haven't heard anything else on that yet.
Cheers

Hey Evo so sorry to hear beautiful Kathleen is not well I hope that you have more answers from the hospital soon. From your original post I don't know why they didn't move her straight away seems odd to me that they would wait until 2am especially with little baby. But like you said in good hands now and if they send you to the RCH in good hands there too just further from home. If you need anything at all just let us know. Thoughts with Chantelle also
-
Fingers crossed. Hope she gets well soon.

Hi Evo
Sorry to hear you baby is not well, hopefully everything will improve and they will find a fix for the infection and murmur. Wish Chantelle and you all the best.

Prayers for a speedy and complete recovery

Hi Evo
I soncrely hope that by noe you have had some better news. I know tha whebn I was recently in the cardiac ward for a while some parents came in with their yougsters, and a couple of the nurses explained to me that the little ones were always stronger than their parents.......and that amazing things can be done these days.
I really hope all is getting better my friend, and stll thinking of you, your family and bubs.
Regards
Tjupurula

Best wishes mate, the little ones are always tougher than you think. And often when they bounce back its super fast. Here's hoping that's the case.
-
Such a terrible feeling being helpless to know what a sick child may need. Our prayers and thoughts are with the Evo family, we hope for a speedy recovery.
Let us know if you need any help or support, the whole myswag family is right beside you.
Big hugs for the Evo family
-
Hi guys. Firstly
A big thank you to everyone for you well wishes and kind words. It is very much appreciated. :cup:
Just goes to show how kind the Myswag family is.
The offers for assistance should we need to go to the Royal Childrens Hospital in Melbourne has been amazing and even though we still aren't sure if we need to go, we appreciate the offers and are amazed at the generosity of others that we have not even been lucky enough to meet in person.
We have had some good news and some not so good news today. The scans showed that the kidney appears normal, but was not able to show clearly the valves nor the bladder so we are still unsure of that. The test results are due in sometime today and will hopefully let us know what we are dealing with. Kath is much more alert now and even gave us some smiles today ;D
The Heart murmur is still an unknown at this point. It has caused a couple of frights over the last couple of days but seems to have settled down somewhat. We were told the main priority at this point is to clear the infection and find out why it is there and what needs to be done to resolve it.
If the Murmur stays how it is now for the next couple of days then it will require monitoring for the next few weeks to find out just how bad it is.
Chantelle is coping better now and said to share her thanks to everyone and that she is looking forward to meeting you all either at the trip next week or at the national meet to say thank you in person.
Cheers
Evo

so are you stayin there, or are you down here?

We still aren't sure mate. There is still allot of unknowns which is making everything difficult. That and everything seems to take such a long time.

That's the biggest issue in these cases nobody knows what comes next, and is where we are spoit in the big cities of having the ability to go straight to the children's hospitals. Keep at mate, be polite but insistent. Albury base were very good to our little girl some 8-9 yrs ago although it was nothing as serious as this.
-
Bugga Evo, sorry to hear. She's in good care. Hope all turns out OK.

Hey evo, any updates on bub?
KB
-
Yes we finally have an update.
The infection is under control and looks like bub and mum can come home today. We are making an appointment for the heart specialist at RCH in melbourne. I have no idea when this will be, hopefully not too long.
If she gets another infection we will need to go straight down to RCH though, so fingers crossed that doesn't happen.
So all in all good news In a way, frustrating none the less though.

Thanks guys, I spent a few hours last night cuddled up to my little princess. I got more smiles from her then than we have in the last week or so. A few days of rest for mum and bubs over the long weekend and hopefully things will settle down until we have to go down to melbourne. Which means that my little man (2yo) is going to help me on the camper and 4wd this weekend I think :-)
Cheers

Yea, all the best mate. Hate reading these threads when it involves little ones being sick, well any one really but you know what I mean. You may have to bring the family to Broome for some R&R, that will help ;D

Evo
The new RCH will blow you away. It's not like any other hospital you've ever seen. It's designed to be an enjoyable place to visit and stay, particularly for kids. They even have a massive aquarium and a meerkat enclosure. A massive improvement on the old one
