Why is it nearly all CT makers have window covers on the inside? Having them like this is handy if it is cold and wet, because there is no need to go outside to do them up.
But this means that you cannot have the windows open when it's raining and it would be a pain in the hotter climates.
I had to pay extra to have storm flaps added to the windows :( I had them sew them to the canvas, 200mm wider and 300mm longer than the window, they also added eyelets, guys ropes and poles.
I would have thought this would come standard, specially with the price of some of these CT's

Hi Graeme most of ours have either both or outside. The door ones are all outside but I think 2 of the bed ones are both so the side bed one we put the outside one on poles when its hot. Our oztrail was the same from memory so must just be some manufacturers but even to save cost I think better on outside protect mesh

My outback Tanami has both ;D The sides in the sleeping area are on the inside, at the head of the sleeping area has both inside and outside and on the softfloor area they are on the outside :cup: :cheers:

Same I have both inside and out.
There is no perfect answer.
I do like the ones that prop outwards off the tent.

Omeo has both as well as a clear plastic over the large end window tp let light in but tnot the weather. If you are getting a quality camper made you could ask for it to be added

They have the clear ones but it still means the windows are closed. I have looked at a lot of different trailers and noticed quite a lot don't have storm flaps.

Our KK has the window cover on the inside, but the front window has a large awning and the driver side window has a smaller awning for the purpose you mentioned.
So you can keep your windows open (mesh windows all around) when it rains.

My OzTrail 9 has inners and outers over all the windows, except the big side wall which just has an outer.

I think that Freedom tents had great ideas that should be incorporated in CTs. Their windows had plastic on the outside then fly wire and the zippered window on the inside. If it is raining you can still get light in and if you use the plastic as an awning you can have fresh air as well. A great piece of design!!
