These thing have been around for a while now, and I've been thinking about getting one. I know a few around here have them and I would like to know if there has been any problems surface over time? We have a 60ltr Trailblazer, not a lightweight item empty, so do these slides live up to what they are meant for?

We have had the small one for about a year now and no problems. The better half loves it when she is shopping.

They look like a great thing, and they're well built, but I reckon I'd grow tired of the rigmarole......

Been looking at the same thing, have found two sets one were brand new but the others have just returned from 12 month trip around Oz,
and are still working well, for the outlay you would want a long life out of these, but SWMBO is keen on one and it means I don't have to get up every time some thing has to come out of the fridge so sounds like a good idea to me,
cheers Andy

Mate I've got one in my patrol, about 18 months old now. Still going strong with my cf50 waeco permanently mounted on it. Some people have reported rattles but I must say I never hear a peep out of ours.
The father inlaw has had one in his 100 series for about 2 years including the CSR and is also more than happy with it.

Blackwidow 4x4 have just released a drop down fridge slide doesnt appear to be as fiddly to use and it can lock in different heightsnot sure on price though.

They do look to be better, but.........WOW!!

900 nicker is alot of cash, i myself couldnt justify it. I will continue to use a small step.

the BW system certainly looks like a good set up, but yeah i'd struggle to justify paying $900 for a fridge slide myself, i'd happily let the kids get stuff from the fridge for the misses instead.....lol

Agreed. It's another fridge........

We got a Platinum slide for our 60l trailblaza too when they first came out about 4 or 5 years ago and never had any issues with it. Once we put the fridge into the CT we didn't need the drop part, but we cannibalised the slides, so they are still in use now. Still no issues.
Black Widow's advertising on p 13 of the latest 4x4 Australia mag leaves a bit to be desired though, as well as the price:
"This slide was conceived and manufactured by Black Widow as there has not been until now, a safe way of lowering a fridge for easy access other than our current Tourer range of storage systems with low mounted fridge slides" said BW director Mark Oliver.
Me thinks Mark Oliver has one arm bigger than the other >:D

Yup, one of the reasons I'll never buy a BW product. One chat with them at a 4wd show was enough to put me off.

Well, that all sounds pretty positive!
Thanks for the replies fellas.

Black Widow lost me when I first priced a drawer system from them at the Queanbeyan 4WD show, told me I'd be a fool to buy any other product, so foolishly I bought an ORS system for 1/2 the price and similar quality. $900 for a fridge slide, I don't think so.
As mentioned above, a $10 folding step is all the Mrs needs, me being taller just open the fridge and grab what I want. Both of us can step onto the rear bar if we need to get at the bottom of the fridge.

I don't think my auto fridge would fit in one of those :(
