Im planning to go the weekend after this....
Hoping to score a 90-100 litre upright 12v compressor fridge (waeco/engel) to replace my RM2350 in the jayco ob penguin, can't remember of i saw anyone selling any there last year......
-
Undecided so far, not a whole heap of money to spend at the moment and $40 to get in.
May wait until the Penrith show, free parking close to the show, free entry etc.. But Rodehill is fun

$40?? I saw $20 per person on the website.
I went to the newcastle one a couple of months ago, that was $10 p/p to get in, but apart from picking up an aqua cube logic for reasonable price i was pretty disappointed with the show...
Im after an upright fridge i remember seeing engel at the rosehill show last year just cant remember if they were selling uprights there or just chest fridge/freezers, year before i picked up a Honda EU2.0i. Last year didnt buy anything...
-

There are two of us so $40. LB wouldn't let me go by myself, BigJules would probably talk me into a TrackAbout to go with my KK ;D

i love the show, so big with so much to see. Why wouldnt you take your credit card? if you leave it at home you can't buy that spare of the minute camper. ;D
-

Too right ;)
I'll be there for most of the show, come down to the Trackabout stand, 109, and say g'day. You don't have to buy a camper.

Just put a deposit on one

this year will be the first rosehill show i have missed in about 5 years
but all in a good cause...... a 5 week camping cause ;D

lol.
We just bought a new Leisure Matters hard floor camper and have spent the last few weeks setting it up so fresh out of cash ..... (Note to self to leave c/c at home ....... Although maybe not haha
-
I'm planning to go if I'm allowed. Last year we went as a family, then I went back alone the next day and secretly purchased a new Aussie Swag as a surprise .....! It's amazing what you can convince yourself what else you need.......
-
It is undecided as of yet, we are going to be in Sydney for it but not 100% sure about going. Besides last years show was expensive enough after buying a brand new (& our first) camper. We do need a bigger fridge though ;-)

I'm going, probably Monday or Tuesday. I am looking for a deal on a 40l fridge.

I'm going for the first time this year (either Sat or Sun). I'd like the better half to have a good look around the Jaycos and other van style campers so we can plan to replace the GIC.

Going to try and get there one weekday next week without the family.
-
I'm taking Wednesday off work to go and look at the various walk-up tents to get ideas, and to talk to a couple of manufacturers about making one to suit my trailer. Will also be looking at kitchens for ideas, or perhaps talking myself into purchasing a Drifta setup.
Taking SWMBO along to get her input on tent colours and options, as well as assessing bench heights on the various kitchen options.
Luckily we are able to drop the kids off with the grandparents for the day so we get some peace and quiet.
-

I wouldn't think twice about it, we love our Drifta stand alone. We don't need it anymore so will go to the son and his mates who love camping as well.

Probably won't get down to the show this year, but normally don't buy anything ......the specials aren't really all that special !!
If you're looking for a bargain......check the prices before you go......usually a bit of ringing around will get you the same price as the "super" specials at the show....
Although about 6 or 7 yrs ago I was just about to leave and looked over the KK stand and bought one......impulse ??......yeh, but never looked back...
-
What is great about this show is that just about everything is there. Even if you don't buy something, you can compare every camper, chair, fishing rod in the one spot.
-
It's not always a good idea to go there to do your camping shopping. BigJules is right about the opportunity to compare everything in one place, but I have seen, for example, a small 12v fridge that was $20 in Dick Smith being sold for $60 at Rosehill.
Know what you want, do your research and haggle hard!
Richard.

Thats why i carry an iPhone around, if it think i see a good price or think its a bargain i can always check my prices then and there internet on the phone (or your ipad) is a great thing to have in this day and age.....

Have to agree with Jules, its handy to see everything in the one day. Otherwise you'll spend more then $40 driving all over checking prices and comparing quality. I've been to so many now I'm un sure of how many, be it to buy now or research for a future purchase. I also take the Iphone with my notes update, SWMBO's shopping list....with a few items I sneak in. Last year I sat SWMBO in the chair I wanted, we walked out with 2 ;D
Not sure if it will be this W/E or next at this stage for us...no purchases (just drooling) this time round as still trying to sell the kids to afford the big family holiday to Hawaii & LA.
-
The weather might be better next weekend. Could be dodgy tomorrow I hear.
-
Hey BigJules since you are at the show every day??? Would you have happened to see waeco or engel selling 90/100L 12v compressor upright fridges there?

We were going to drop by and say hi and give personal thanks for all your help but we will be there tomorrow :(

Did it even rain at the show today? (Saturday) we got 53mm just 13km NW of Rosehill but BOM showed 0 for Homebush (closest station)
I was thinking half the outdoor exhibits would have been washed away as we got torrential rain at times but maybe not.

I have only been to the show 3 times over the years and each time I bought a camper or caravan, now Im banned by SWMBO :'( :'( :'( :'(
-
Absolutely cracking day today folks. Come on down. I'm on site 109, just near the big ARB tent.
After yesterday some of the retailers might be feeling a bit desperate today, plus a few done the back will have water damaged stock for sure so hopefully there are some bargains available.
-
Don't forget that NRMA members get discounts with some exhibitors http://www.mynrma.com.au/media/supershow2013.pdf (http://www.mynrma.com.au/media/supershow2013.pdf)

Great to meet you today Jules :)

Was great to meet you today Jules. You've convinced the wife to go with Trackabout for the tent, and she even wants your colour scheme! I'm still pushing for full camo...
Now I'm off to enjoy a few coldies and my Gall Boys DVDs :)
-
Great to meet you today Jules - bet you can't wait until the show is over to get your new camper home ;D

-
Heading down on Friday at this stage
-
Ok spent all day at the show in the glorious weather, dropped in and saw jules working the teak about stand like a demon ( fair dinkum I think if he put his mind to it he could sell ice to eskimo's)
Spent far to much cash at the show today and am buggered after being there all day.
-
Took SWMBO to the show on Sat. The main aim was to check out the Jayco, Corimal and Goldstream style campers and agree on the best layout for our needs. After looking at them all we have settled on the Jayco Eagle or Swan. The wife likes the extra cupboards in the swan but since there are only two of us either would work. The Dove and Hawk would do for most of our short trips too but I'd like at some stage to do an extended trip and like the idea of having a bit more space inside. The Goldstreams were better finished off but we didn't like the layouts as much as the Jayco's.
They had some good show specials too. An on road 2013 Eagle flies, bag annex with battery and solar setup for just over for just over $23K. The swan was only a couple grand dearer. Just with I had the spare cash. It makes some of the second hand prices that people are advertising seem a bit excessive.

It has been fantastic to meet those of you who've called, thanks. I hope to get a few minutes tomorrow to have a look around myself.
I'm after some new chairs, a mat for the annex and maybe a few other bits n pieces.
-
The oztrail mates are great.
And they are just a bit bigger than the annex.
Perfect fit.
Rod.......

Went to the show yesterday. Kept the wallet closed but interesting seeing everything in the one spot. Did come away with some ideas for future mods.
Also had a look through the KK black caviar in the flesh. I know each to his own but that is one ugly horse float!
-
I've been called into work today (bummer >:(). So I guess I'll now be going to the show on Thursday.

Happy bday Jules, called in to say hi today to find out they gave you the day off cause it was your bday hope you had a good one
-
I went today as well. Other than an ice cream and a drink there wasn't really anything there that interested. Had a free ticket given to me as well, so it turned out to be a cheap day out. Had a look at Julian's camper - very nice, had a quick chat with its owner and a few other people out there that I knew, then headed home.
-

Sorry to have missed you. I was there and always keen to work, instead I had a walk around.
To be honest, I found it a bit disappointing; nothing jumped out at me.

Might that be because you own one of the best campers going, not much else compares! ( bias alert here) When Kym and I walked around the Perth show last month we felt the same, only thing we looked at was how much more camper we got for the same $. We did manage to get some comfy camp chairs though.
Oh and happy birthday Jules.
-
The only thing that jumped out at us was the 15ft North Coast camper trailer/ caravan as this is the way we want to go in few years time but 80K is a Shitload of coin, and I bought Boiling Billy's Camping guide to Australia new out this year.

I wanted se new chairs and a ground cover for the annex. So far the only thing I've bought at the show is over priced coffee.
I love the Bidji Barby though, so Tony might do me a deal.
-
We went to the show on Thursday. Went to the Trackabout stand and said hello to Jules. That was the only CT stand we visited. No point in looking when we are happy with what we have and cannot afford anything else anyway!!
We bought an Evakool IB40 fridge. Saved $150 on the regular price, so pretty happy with that. Also bought a Freshield vacuum sealer, so we will have some playing to do this week before we go away. Also a Crocbin, which I had been thinking about for a while. Ran out of money, so will have to save now for a while to pay off the credit card when the bill arrives ???

I went yesterday, also met jules on my way past trackabout stand ;D
Ended up buying an Engel upright ST90F-B for $1199 inc frame mounting kit (free) to replace my RM2350 although i went to see dometic/waeco stand about cr-1110 model the the guy was busy talking me out of spending $1300 on the waeco as i dont like 3 way fridges for various reasons, also not to mention i found him stand offish couldnt believe it >_< , so off to engel stand i went.....
Only issue is now i've slapped my mulah on the Engel and its ordered (it would be nice if sellers there actually had stock at the show) ive realised that the Engel is 14mm taller than the dometic RM2350 fridge, has anyone swapped one out before? Im going to go measure the bench height today, although the fridge itself is 740mm, with the feet and track for mounting its 780mm height-max on the brochure on engels website, not sure if the feet are adjustible?
I cant locate an installation manual on engels website..... Hopefully engel includes an installation manual in the box....

Haven't been to Rosehill in about 5 years. So I thought I might take the family out for a look.
Even though I managed to spend $700+ on stuff I "need", I was a bit disappointed. Where are all the 4wd club stands? Where's the test track gone? Did I just miss it? TLCC were there, but they were all I could see.
Richard.

That is what the Eastern Creek show caters for now.

That is what the Eastern Creek show caters for now.
I feel that the Easrern Creek show is becoming the more relevant show for 4wders. I have a sense that Rosehill is more and more focussed on caravans and RV accessories. Whilst there is a great range of camper trailers on display, the nature of the location means that none have great sites.
-
I very much got the impression that Rosehill is trying to cater to the grey nomads and caravan crowds than camper trailers and even tent/swag campers.
Whilst I was very grateful for the opportunity to see Trackabout and a couple of other camper trailer manufacturers in order to make my final decision about my trailer top, the rest of the show was disappointing - Oztent had no stock of the Goanna chairs, there were very few decent solar offerings, and the reps from the various travel groups (Big4, Travel QLD, etc) were very light on actual information unless you were asking about caravan sites.
