Hi All, a member on here tells me what a very knowledgeable bunch of people you are :D
We are currently looking at ordering a "Tailgate Camper" (that is the name of them) and we were wandering if anyone on here has one, or knows of them from a friend who might have one. We don't have any kids and we seem to think they would be ideal for what we need and want. Anybody know od anyone who has one?
Thanks.

They lied ;)
Sorry cant say I've heard of them

One of the Tassie blokes has something similar to this on a dirty old landy.. search the trips area for Tasmania.
-
Is that a particular brand you want info on, or the type of camper you want to find out more about?
(Hope that makes sense!)
-
Hi GeeTee, no that particular brand, They are in NE Victoria ;-)
-
Look very similar to the ones available in albury.... the name escapes me, but a well made bit of kit.
Not much room in them though?
Cheers

I have a sneaking suspicion that those are the brand that Hema Maps uses.... Hang on, I'll check.

Hi Evo, Yes looked at the ones you are thinking of, a friend has one who we were visiting Sunday up there. No storage in the ones from Wodonga, well no practical storage anyway, especially in the kitchen. The Tailgate Campers, for us, have better storage and alot more features for the same money :-)

We thought that too, before we actually saw them, and how it is all done, and the setup of them. Plus it suits our setup to a tee, as we don't have a normal lifestyle........lol. (I won't even go there....lol). They are all around that price or dearer for the same sort of idea, just some are better than others :-)

What's your budget?
What features do you need/want/wish list?
How many do you need to sleep?
What sort of camping do you like to do?

Hi Big Jules, we have been camping/4wd'ing/caravanning for almost 17 years now, not alot of the VIC high country or Australia we haven't seen :-)
There is no budget if we are looking at the right gear, if you want it buy it is our terms...lol.
We only need to sleep us, and we camp anywhere and everywhere, mainly free camping as far from away from civilisation as we can get. We GLAMP we dont camp. Hubby calls it glamour camping as I still have to have all the mod cons, and running hot water, which we have :-)
-
OK, so it doesn't sound like you're picking a brand no one else seems to know because they're the only one that will fit your budget.
There are some great campers out there; hard floor, soft floor, with all the fruit for glamping, and a reputation that can be relied upon when putting your hard earned down
-
what rig is it going on?

No it's not that at all Big Jules. Our lifestyle is why we chose that one, which I'm not prepared to explain on here. Members who know us on here, will understand. I was just asking if any members have one, or know of anyone who has that particular brand. We know enough about camping etc, to know what we want and are after. :-)

Hi Lost, going on a 79 series Cruiser ute :-)

Have you had a look at the 'Evron Sc2' by Travelander?
http://www.travelander.com.au/products/trayback-camper/103-trayback-premium (http://www.travelander.com.au/products/trayback-camper/103-trayback-premium) Also see if you can get hold of Camper Trailer Australia issue 63 April, I think the new issue comes out this week?
A decent compact trayback camper that is suited to day trips or over nighters and extended stays. There is an excellent sleeping area and a kitchen that is ready to use in minutes, and can still tow a boat.
I have seen these around and are well suited to getting far off the track, away from the crowds. They even have a remote control driven motor to unfold and fold up the tent area.
Good luck with your search
Cheers

Its a pitty GeeTee cant build his camper on a cruiser for you. I think that would suit you guys down to a tee.
Very well thought out design imo.
Although i like the ones in the last link that was put up. Thats a great design too.
Cheers

Hi Wartim, yep they don't look to bad, but not as much storage. Plus they are way heavier than the Tailgates. We would have to have an upgrade down with one of them on the back. But thanks anyway :-)

Mmmmm does a few people too, it even intrigues us sometimes.....lol.

I personally know Noel at tailgate campers- top bloke. Seen the campers in the flesh and they look great to me, and well designed. We used to go bush with him and his family. You'll have some great trips with that rig. Enjoy. Kris.

Hey Kris, we worked out your first line about him when we met him. You know when you can pick a bullShitter straight away, we couldnt with him. he is not your typical pushy salesman! and he was so up front with us and nothing was a bother. We spent nearly an hour there and he was so patient with me and all my questions. We really liked his attitude, and he didn't bag anyone else's set ups. Irene has answered emails nearly straight away, which gives you a good feeling too? I can't wait to get its, we are over the moon with it, we really are :-)
