This a quite cool:
http://www.campaspect.com/
An iPhone app the plots the sunrise/sunset path for your camping location in order for you to position your camper optimally. Also has a built in spirit level.
Cheers

I use a similar app to track the sun (for solar panel placement of course!) - Sun Surveyor - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ratana.sunsurveyor
To calculate sunrise/sunset/moonrise/moonset/dusk/dawn etc I use TerraTime - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.daylightclock.android.license
For things like spirit levels, measurement, and other tools, I use Smart Tools - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kr.aboy.tools

Hello,
I wrote CampAspect to try and help the campsite set up. Trying to make things easy so its all in one app. I am actively developing CampAspect so please make any suggestions to me of features that you would like added.

I thought the sun rose in the east and set in the west, and left shadows along the way.
Has this changed??

Hi Neil, I'll give it a crack. I usually use a plain compass, but this will allow for the variation in time of year etc..
Good job. For $2.99, who can argue..
-
God knows how to do this but the prevailing wind direction would be handy when orienting our campsite.....Mandrake

Chuck in a tide chart for that coastal camp of to be a smart **** in the Simpson

Was given a nice compass years ago which is housed in a little timber box.. Sat in the cupboard for an eternity. Since we bought our camper, its now in the car. Have we used it yet? Nope.

Hi Neil,
Just thought I'd ask how you found using Corona as a framework for your app? Any major hurdles or just smooth sailing?
It looks like a great app!

Now that I have CampAspect and Neil is fixing a little problem on OLD iPhones. Thanks Neil... :cup:
How do most people setup camp? Annex to sun, Camper back to sun, Sleeping end to sun, Sleeping end to morning sun, Sleeping end to evening sun, Camper to weather, annex to weather????????
Now that is going to open a can of worms...

I downloaded the Ap last night to my iPad mini. I haven't had opportunity to use it yet, except in the loungeroom ;D
Looks the goods, well done Neill

First priority for me is actually to make sure we have our backs to the prevailing wind (using the camper as wind block). Other than that I prefer waking up to the sun coming into the camper so "facing" east.....or north east. Also gives the most shade from late morning onwards.
-
We set up so the camper is level (first priority), and so we get a good view from under the annex. Haven't had to deal with prevailing winds much yet, so I guess that might come into it at some point. Don't really give a hoot about the sun, tbh.

I'm glad you asked this, exactly what I was thinking. ;D

Hi Guys,
Very good point but it depends on how close to the equator you are.
If you look at the attached image it shows you how different the sun paths are during summer and winter. Its for Meehan Nature reserve in Tassie but there is 66 degrees difference between where the sun rises in summer and winter.
