God what a horror Easter weekend on the Albany Highway
The toll (that I saw was as follows)
1. Boat trailer dragged to Williams servo smoke coming out of the hub with collapsed wheel bearing
2. Fatality coming into Albany hwy closed caravan and subsequent car rollover
3. Caravan on the side of the road on the return trip with snapped A Frame
4. Near new boat on the side of the road apparently not secured to trailer correctly and bounced off
Hope no one on hear was involved in any bingles over the weekend we took it easy and arrived just fine

Yeah it's shocking over the Easter break. I wish people would just slow down a bit and enjoy the drive. After all, half the fun is getting there. I've seen way too much carnage on the roads in my last job as an interstate truck driver. I just cannot understand why some people get soo stressed on the roads. I found, over an average of about 300,000 kms per year, a steady plod gets you to your destination quicker than the rip, s#!t and bust approach.
I hope everyone here had an enjoyable and safe break.

I had my wheel bearing come loose on the way to yerrenderie(think thats how you spell it). When we pulled up at camp checked over the car and found it fixed it then no problem since. Not sure what happened as they were new wheel bearing and new locking washer.

yeah i know what you mean champion even though i am probably averaging 15kph slower than the rest i was still catching people that had passed me at the next town

Wheel bearings can certainly be a holiday show-stopper. I probably over-service mine. That said, as soon as I pull over for fuel stops I check for heat build up around the hubs. So far LUCKY.

We were on our way to the Roaring Meg Falls and on a whim decided to check out the Bloomfield River crossing. There was a lot of water coming through after all the rain. Spotted some dirt bikes on the other side and thought we'd watch them come across. Turns out they were loading a couple of bikes onto the back of a dual cab. Thought I'd go over and give them a hand and put a couple on the back of my truck, too. When we got there, we found out one of them had tried to cross earlier and got washed into the drink while he was wearing all his offroad kit and back pack. He was very lucky. A nearby tourist boat raced over and managed to fish him out and threw the anchor out and hooked his bike. The bloke would have drowned if the boat wasn't there.

yep albany h'wy is shocking especially between williams at mt barker so many people in a hurry

Yep,
Was happy to stay home and avoid all that crap.
Ive driven that road and seen ALOT of crap that makes me angry.
Overtaking on hills, around corners, with oncoming traffic, overtaking after passing signs that say over taking lane in 1km, the white lines in middle of the road are their own direction home, riding in my boot or tray back close enough change my radio,
Take a look at the whote crosses on the side of the road all way up or down and they still drive likes f*#kwits.
Easter, a good time to have a few days away, also a good time to stay home and avoid all the crap.
So glad I wasnt on the roads over that time....

I saw a bloke towing a van with a 4 wheeled motor bike on the roof rack (what do they call those things?) and thought it not only looked a bit odd ... but how the hell did he get it up there ... and was he going to remember it when going under a bridge?

We saw our fair share of "What the"just outside Beaudesert was a old style caravan that had lost its whole running gear, Springs an all!! Plus the usual wheel bearing snapped axle victims. And that was just the drive from Brisbane to Levuka.

not sure what that would have done to the roof with that kind of weight. Oh and they call them Quad bikes. ????

We were following an idiot on the Calder freeway towing a boat. The motor hadn't been tilted up so the prop was sitting about 2cm from the road. Then his life jackets flew out of the boat and hit my car. He didn't even notice and just kept driving

On the Hume North bound saw a tandom caravan with its wheels crossed up . Looked as though the front axel had come louse & them tripped over the rear . Almost a perfect cross up . The Goulburn River is as far North as this was going :'( :'( >:D

We were in the middle of a queue of traffic, probably close to 2 K's long on the Sturt Highway, bumper to bumper, you all know the drill. Pi$$ed me off the number of w Anchors that still try to push their way through, regardless of what is coming the other way, or if they have room to get back in.

If you really want to slow down the traffic , pull off the road then unpack the rig & lift the bonnet . All the rubber necks will have to have a gander at whats going on . The blockage will stop anybody getting up a full head of steam . lts a wonder how they get out of the carpark of the supermarket with all the parked cars to look at >:D
