Title: Roof Racks
Post by: TasJK on March 14, 2013, 12:06:20 PM
Hi guys! Just got a Basket Roofrack delivered for my GU Patrol. It's one if the steel baskets with the legs integrated into the design.
My question is, the instructions say assemble the legs first then put on the car. However the car is quite high so I was thinking of putting a blanket or similar on the roof, laying the rack on that (it would be achievable for one person almost to lift the rack up like that) then put the legs on and position.
I don't have a garage etc etc to hang it off (which would be easiest).
Does anyone see an issue with this way of doing it?

its going to slide everywhere while you try and fit the legs, specially once the weight starts moving.

2 people and milkcrates.

That's one reason mine isn't going to go back on the car, and I have a shed AND carport to use...

This is why you should always list your location. There's probably a dozen or so people nearby that would be willing to give you a hand for a snag & a beer...
