Bloody rain. Have now cancelled two camping weekends this year due to the rain in so called sunny Queensland. Seriously starting to get sick of sitting around home. If I don't get out camping soon, the wife will have me doing jobs around the house. Anybody else getting sick of being stuck at home?

Too wet to mow, so no work for the moment but 40 something places waiting plus the normal weeks work.
Too wet to go boating and too much crap floating around in the water.
But the upside is, i got laid this afternoon and it was gooooooooood. >:D
two and half minutes of pure animal sexual feats on my part. ;D

Long range forecasters are suggesting 40-50 days of rain over autumn.... :(
-
Jeepers, feel like driving 3 hrs in rain to mow approx 70sqm of turf? I can do it myself, but if you're bored and want a road trip I could make it worth your while. Grog, food, bed & small $ compensation offered....
-
Well I finally started my long awaited holidays today ... In the rain.
Plan was for a 3 week road trip in the hilux with CT, missus and 2 hounds. Brisbane to Yarramundi to stay with Brother and Sister in-law for a week. Then to Dubbo to do the zoo visit. Then to Copeton National Park to camp, fish, frolic, drain a few bottles of single malt, more fishing and frolicking. The long drive back to Brisbane stopping overnight where we please.
Update on that plan - can't get to in-laws due to flooding. Looks like the amount of rain to come will prevent camping at Copeton and even a few overnighters at locations closer to home and will definitely put the fish off the bite..... Bugga.........
I purchased the CT October last year and still haven't spent a night in it ........ >:(

JEEZZZ Taz, I would have put it up in the back yard and slept in it during the week when it doesn't rain.

Only 30 days before we start heading west for 3 months ;D

Plenty of opportunity to season the canvas! :cup:

KB, With all this rain, is Leslie Dam must be getting some inflow?
Yeah mate, I'm guessing it would be. The Condamine has broken its banks but its catchment is different to what feeds Leslie Dam. May have a run out there tomorrow to have a gander if we are not isolated on the other side of the Condi.

Aaahhh Tasmania, beautiful one day perfect the next :)

Shitty weather here in Gladstone as well. Was suppose to re-screw my roof today but the rain stopped that. Packed the wife & the kids & drove to Rocky to see Roothy. He was up there opening a shop that sells Roo Systems gear among other things. It's the second time the boy & I have got to meet him. I would love to sit & have a proper chat with him. I don't reaaly agree with the commercial side of thing with the mag but Roothy as a person I admire. I bet he has some stories to tell.
Cheers, Mike.

we head west in 7 weeks and i still need a dry carport to do some wiring alterations
-
Yes.
-
Canvas is seasoned and I'm thinking my only option will be to set it up in my neighbour's yard and sleep in it so at least I'm away from home
-
Yep, The dam rain stuffed our plans too. We were heading out to Wisemans Ferry to catch up with some good friends. Campers, beers, ski boats, beers, bbq's, beers, kids, wakeboards, wives, beers and a bloody good time. The winter sport season is just about to start up again and there goes the spare weekends....... :'(
-
Careful what you wish for, i know your area pretty well and you never know who could turn up..
What I am wishing for: well I'm a bit old for the tooth fairy, and a bit married and fat for a hot single backpacker, so having a middle aged mower man pop up to clip the footpath actually does appeal....

I didn't get laid but the better half has told me to f*^& **f quite abit.

Yep the rain is giving me the sh#ts, not an indoor person. I'll have crack at getting out to my work camp today. I've got a rv5 oztent set up at work (cattle property), it's been my home for the last 7 months I've been working there and only has been shifted once, poor thing been through drought, a couple of close bush fires and floods. Hope it survived this lot of rain. ;D Mick
-
Yep, I agree. Its a waiste of a weekend or days off work. Yes we can all camp in the rain, but you can only sit around in the trailer so long.
-
this morning I sent the boys out to the back yard with a football, and some dirty clothes ...they had a ball slipping and sliding around .... Hell get out and enjoy it ..its only water! :D
Cheers Chippy :D

How was it KB? Did you head out?
We're heading up Condamine River Gorge for Easter but that's gonna be pretty iffy if the rain doesn't ease up?
Would be keen for any intel..

The gorge road is closed atm ... (flooded and HEAVILY damaged) it will be a while before it is back open again I think. The road up from Boonah is closed as well. I live 10 mins for the gorge, so if you want any details before easter let me know.
Cheers Chippy :D

If it's not raining.
4 words that cannot be used in the one sentence when describing SE Qld weather of 2013. Unless you're a fiction novellist...

naah I was out there too ...... mowing the (very wet) grass ......

Ta mate....
Yep, we love our boat, but we love our camper trailer too.

We were lucky enough to get away last weekend to Deer park at Imbil. Was a great test of the new van. This weekend it was meant to be Stinson Park at Christmas Creek but canned that and am glad we did. Started a couple of alterations on the new van but the weather stopped them being finished. There is always next weekend.
-
Yes..it has been crazy with the 2 boys.
There has been a positive however. I have been wanted a snorkel for the Hilux. My better half said there was no need for one! With all this rain she has suggested we get one just in case!
Hope we get some dry weather soon....
-
Yep I've got a dusty camper as well. Still got a credit for Kenilworth homestead from a rained out Australia day event. I've been told from a reliable source that march is going to be very wet all month except for about 3 days .. Great . qld wet one day flooded the next .

Sorry but didn't get back on the 'puter yesterday arvo. Yeah, we got out to Leslie Dam for a look. Still several metres below the spillway. As I said in another post, Leslie Dam's catchment is totally different to the Condamine River catchment. The overflow from Leslie Dam goes into Sandy Creek which eventually does enter the Condie but several kilometres downstream of Warwick.
As Chippy said the Condi Gorge road is closed. Can't see it being opened any time soon. Great road when it's dry though.

It's beautiful here in the Central West! I get cabin fever every day being home with two little girls though. I went out in the rain the other day with them both just to buy our fish from the fish man. Looking forward to our first trip when we pick up our new camper this weekend
-
Did the drive from Sydney to Brisbane, went to MovieWorld (very wet but fun) then drove home again.
Quite some way to spend a weekend really.
Lawns are looking very very long, not looking forward to them drying out cause then I will have to mow them.

Another 300mm overnight last night...just about had enough of the rain.
Gotta love the tropics...

It's the exact opposite over here in SA at the moment. No rain in sight just temperatures in the mid to high 30's for the rest of the week. We've got a long weekend next weekend and am heading away for a few nights. The trip was planned earlier this year but with the weather forecast at the moment I'm not really looking forward to spending time under canvas....
Cheers,
Marc

I'd rather sunny and hot than pissing with rain and 5c!

Nope, living in Melbourne in summer has its advantages, beautiful weather.
-
Nope. I've still done my fortnightly camp regardless of the weather. :cup: After all ... it's not like I'm a sugar baby and gonna melt is it?

Kit_e where have you been heading? We have run out of places to go this weekend, everything is closed! We love the rain, we camped all Australia Day long weekend in the floods and loved every minute... Does normally make for a quiet campground. I've got to admit though, you are brave souls camping in this weather with a soft floor!
-
Kit_e where have you been heading?
Head to my blog. Lots of ideas for you there.
