Hi guys,
Long time watcher - not much of a poster...
I'm planning a trip mid this year from Melbourne to Ayres Rock / Alice Springs via the Stuart Hwy, and returning hopefully via the Oodnadatta Track and Flinders Ranges. I have no plans of yet to stray off these paths too much and would like advise as to how prepared I should be as most of my camping / offroading has been fairly local and tame to date.
I'll be driving a stock 2012 Pajero Platinum (with bullbar) and towing a Redrock Exterme Offroad camper, and planning to take a UHF radio, basic tools, tyre repair kit, air compressor, first aid kit, paper maps and GPS, snatch strap, bearings / grease for camper, additional 40L of fuel in jerries and additional 20L water on top of the 60l of water the Camper Trailer carries. Is this enough for this trip or am I missing any other essentials?
Cheers
Steve

Steve you sound pretty prepared to me. That trip is not a bad one in the sense that you are never too far away from help or another vehicle.
Air down your tyres on the gravel roads, take it easy and no reason why you wont have a trouble free trip, good luck and post photos when your done :) Oh and welcome to Myswag.

Welcome and good luck Steve. My bit of advice is to allow a rest day or two in your itinerary. This will give you a chance to take it easy plus allows a day or two to cover unforseen holdups. Nothing worse than having to stick to a strict timetable and having to push yourself and your vehicle. Relax and enjoy.
Look forward to reading your trip report when you get back.
