By popular demand I was wondering your thoughts on this TOYOTA
http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/toyota-hilux-2010-14230045 (http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/toyota-hilux-2010-14230045)
Is it worth the coin.....
If not what would MYSWAGERS pay for this setup????
Cheers Wagon Man

Drive away in a new one for 55k
Waynr

Doing a quick tally, there is at minimum $15k of accessories on it. I personally wouldn't go over $60k including transfers.
-
It's worth whatever the car is worth. Accessories add little to no value to resale when selling, just usually makes it easier to sell.
I found this out last year when selling my fully decked out patrol. Over $45k worth of extras and after 6 months only got what a standard one sells for...
On the other hand if you really want it and is going to save you money on building one then it is worth exactly how much you are willing to pay...
My 2c worth

i agree with MR MAC GU to some extent.....if u where in the market for a lux and it has got all the fruit u intend to put on it.
I would offer maybe....55k and take it from there....
I have a 2010 with evrything he has listed cept the canopy....and i know mine is getting close to that in what it owes me

Totally agree.
I based my figures on carsales average $40 -$45k for a stocker and that the op wants to add all the fruit listed. As a trade in I reckon they wouldn't give much extra than a stocker.

Rather buy a new one and slowly build it up. IMO

I would to fuji. My boss is negotiating a new sr5 at the moment. Was quite surprised that Toyota pricing has come back to the field. He is at $51k drive away for the sr5.

The Hilux is getting a bit long in the tooth. Guess they are finding it a bit more difficult to compete for sales with all the new models out there. When is the new Hilux due in showrooms?

This one is also not the current model, current one has different dash around AC controls etc and radio antenna mounted in rear section of the roof. As mentioned you can get a 2013 SR5 for just on 50k and add 10k of Acc and have 0km and full warranty.

I believe the new model is due 2015.

On the face of this the price does seem well over the top in price
I guess $2800 could the cost of diff lock setup with ARB compressor installed
but quite a few of the new 4wd dual cab utes now come with rear diff locks as standard e.g. VW Amarok
About most items are a similar setup as to my Mahindra UTE buildup http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=17679.0 (http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=17679.0)
Rough costing on what was used when building up my ute
Item Rough pricing
Suspension Upgrade lift kit with fitting $ 1350
Snorkle $ 770
Steel winch bar $ 1995
Runva Winch with plasma rope $ 995
Tow bar $ 770
Sump guard $ 550
Alloy canopy with wired up central locking $ 5500
Reverse camera $ 500
Extra spare wheel and tire $ 300
Dual battery setup $ 400
Centre bearing guard $ 300
UHF radio setup $ 500
Dash matt $ 70
Long Range Fuel tank setup $ 2500
Extra Aux wiring $ 100
Extra TOTALs (including fitting) about $16600
If that was the Toyota with it's ARB Diff Lock add say another $2800 that would be a rough $19400 total for the extra for the build.
So if you were to add that sort of pricing to the standard, pricing of what a "used" 2010 Toyota Hilux then you can see what the whole lot is worth -- may be if standard Toyota pricing was used then the whole lot would be dealer -- then again if standard after market stuff was applied it's ball park, So rough figures 2010 Hilux about $39000 plus $19400 Extras -- The pricing of $61000 is sort of over the top.
Now other considerations
- 2010 model, is just out of 3yr warranty, -- I consider warranty is worth a fair amount from new to used.
- That pricing I gave has no depreciation for all the mods
- I guess the mods on the vehicle like the ARB DIff locker might now be out of Warranty now
- Even the dual battery setup is 3 years old -- up in the north of Australia batteries only last about 2.5 years
Maybe if you bargained to a price that you that you like "This is up to you as it's your coin" -- and if you like the vehicle then buy it.
Personally I would never buy a dark coloured vehicle (far too hot in the sun), or metallic paint (for offroad stuff it scratches and difficult to repair ) -- this is also personal taste

x2
And after you put possibly 100,000 + kms on it. Your resale would be better on a new one for sure.]
