Title: Sometimes it is hard to get good service
Post by: krisandkev on February 20, 2013, 12:27:58 PM
Sent an email to the company that sells the ScanGauge products about how long delivery would take to our location.  No reply after a few hours so I thought I may as well ring them.  Rang them at 3.30pm and the female said the guy who can answer you has gone home, but he will reply to my email.
Next day still no reply so I rang the company again and the same lady answers and I said I rang yesterday about a ScanGauge and I had sent an email, she then says she can answer my question!!!  What the!!!  She said postage to Queensland is normally 3 to 5 days, I said that is too long as we are going away, and that was that.  She did not try to assist, perhaps suggest overnight express etc....  I guess they just do not want my business.   >:(    Kevin

That seems to be aqn ongowing thing today . Its not my job to be helpful or answer questions or try to cover you requirements what ever they may be . Its probably not there fault that they lost their job to boot

I think you may have been expecting a bit much there. Not all companies have people living on email requests. some do it once a day.

but agree, Shit service is standard today.

Yea I was aware that my email was only a few hours old, but then I saw they had a 1300 number and I thought I would be better ringing them.  What got me was that the same lady could not answer my question one day but could the next? And then would not talk about other possibilities.
I have previously used company's messaging systems via their web pages and often never got a reply, so I do not trust them to get a message through.  But, if they are going to supply such a system then I think they should be prepared to answer their messages, within a reasonable time frame.

Hey its amazing how many people these days will send 5 emails and never call once!
eg: http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=28136.0 (http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=28136.0)
I usually prefer to call, I get answers there and then, unless its after hours. Then 1 email, wait 24hrs, and then call.

Our Corporate standard is supposed to be return phone calls "on the day", unless other advice has been given, and answer emails by the next working day.

And how often does this work with Managers?

Bought a car once.  Was very happy dealing with the sales manager.  Looked after me really well.  Took car in for the first service and the service manager was great.  Next service, the previous service manager had left and they had promoted his assistant to the job.  Well the new service manager was in her twenties and had never held a spanner in her life (don't worry I checked later).  She was the "know it all" from hell.  Had to take the car back three times to get the same thing fixed because she wouldn't accept what I was trying to tell her.  After the third visit, I got to talk to the actual mechanic and he said "wish I had of known this at the start and it would have been fixed first up".  I was a bit pissed.  Complained to the sales manager and he asked me to put it in writing for the director.  My letter was courteous but stated my dissatisfaction.  Never heard a word in reply.  Guess who is never getting my business again.  And I never took it back for a service either.

Don't mean to sound critical of you ... but I think you are complaining to the wrong people.  To assist in improving the customer service standards of the place of which you speak, you must speak to them directly.   Remain calm and explain your situation clearly, so they may take note, ask open questions, and get to the very crux of the issue at hand.

Sorry about that, but I've just completed my "Implement Customer Service Standards" module on my Cert 4 ...   ;D

Know where you are coming from, but I recently did just that.  Rang and spoke to the manager and remained calm and spoke my case. What a waste of time that was.  Basically told me they have heaps of customers and if I don't like it, well it was up to me if I wanted to return.   Sort of put me off complaining again.  But you are right, we should speak to the right people, I just wanted to express my opinion on here, sorry about that.....  I will slap myself.      Kevin

I could be wrong here but I'm sure I read somewhere that this is a very small
operation (1 bloke) and there's always a 3 or more month wait to get hold of there
product, if this is true there probably that busy with production and an emails
probably more nuisance value than anything.

Does anyone know of elsewhere in Sydney that stocks scan gauge 2? Prefer western side if possible.

Jim,

I used ample out doors, it was delivered within 48 hours, can't do much better than that. They must have dispatched it the afternoon I ordered.

Called Ample outdoors  yesterday 1pm and spoke with the girl. She said 3-4 days but for Sydney it has to go through Bathurst!

anyway arrived today!  Seems it was despatched from Lithgow so they must warehouse them over here. pretty good service.
