Title: Sitting kids quads on top of tent?
Post by: BLKWDW on February 14, 2013, 07:53:18 PM
How would i go having kids quad bikes sitting on top of the trailer tent on top of the canvas obviously. They will be light weight and only 2 of them. I cant see a problem what do you's think and i'm mainly worried bout the tent not the height etc the bikes will sit at.

Presume theyre the small kids quads, probably not much heavier than my old Canoe, which I do the same to.  It weighs about 60kg.

A few sets of ratchet restraining straps should locate them and tie then down pretty well.

Perhaps a 3x2 metre bit of board/ply on top of the tent, and below the travel cover will give a more stable footing.

I wouldnt want to be doing a big lap with them tho!

Get Fuji's opinion on the legal side of things!

Can you get them on with risking bending the tent hoops? Nomad.

Tent bows? I havnt got the bikes yet going to swap there motorbikes for quads as there bikes are to big for them to ride by themselves and its hard trying to double 3 kids all at once although the eldest will be keeping her bike.

Yeh mate small kids quads prob 60kg max.  I dont plan on doing a lap just out local places and a few close by 4wd parks. I could imagine board making it worse as it wont sit flat and will potentially slide around or off.

What hoops? Do you mean the internal poles for the tent otherwise my tent has no hoops that go over it and seeing as the internal poles are at either end of the tent if the bikes are centred i couldnt see them causing issue with those.
