I thought I would share this with other people. I have a basic set up in the trailer, a battery which runs some lights and has five cigarette lighter sockets for powering things. I keep the battery charged up by solar panels. It is enought for the Engel, some lights and powering up stuff. I did find though that I needed to ensure the battery was above 12v, otherwise things didnt work.
I used to check the voltage via a Multimeter, cheap one from Bunnings ($12) but after a year it got fried. I met a guy on the travels who had this gizmo that he plugged into his cig lighter and it would display the voltage, $25 from battery world apparantly.
Tried nearly every battery world, I went past none of them had one. Was checking out EBay and some guy had one in China (new) delivered for $4.95...I thought cant be possible, must be crap or a rip off.
Well it wasnt, it was shipped minutes after I paid for it and arrived within a week. It actually beat an order that I made in Australia on the same day (I am still waiting for it actually, three days later). How the hell, some guy in China, can make this thing and post for $4.95 is absolutly amazing, no wonder they make everyting.
Sorry might be boring but I got pretty excited about it.

I just wish I had enough cigarette light plugs available to be able to give one up to this. As it is, I think I would like around 5 at the front console. Hot swapping things all the time.

Jeb, they dont need to be in all the time..you can just plug it in when you want to know the voltage...

Funny, I ordered two of these off aliexpress for $3.99 US each, yesterday afternoon, and first read this thread last night!
My BIL had lent one to me on our last trip to test out the battery on our (new to us) second hand camper. I'll keep one inthe car and one in the camper.
Cheers!
Jono.
