One true champion.
BOXING legend Muhammad Ali is so ill he could be dead within days, his devastated brother has warned.
Rahman Ali told The Sun his 71-year-old brother - who is known as The Greatest - cannot speak and no longer recognises him.

"He's in a bad way. He's very sick,'' Rahman Ali said.
"It could be months, it could be days. I don't know if he'll last the summer. He's in God's hands."
Former heavyweight boxing champion Ali was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1984. Regarded as one of the greatest sportsmen of all time, he has made many public appearances over the years.
He famously lit the flame at the 1996 Olympic Games in one of sport's most memorable moments.
Muhammed Ali, known as The Greatest, is regarded as one of sport's true legends.
He was seen looking particularly thin and frail at the London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony where he was helped across the stage by Lonnie, his wife of 26 years.
Rahman Ali has accused Lonnie of tearing the family apart and not allowing him to visit his ailing brother.
The brothers, born Cassius and Rudolph Clay, grew up together in Louisville, Kentucky.

Yes it would be a shame to see him go but it's also sad to see him suffer like he is. Makes you wonder what he would have been like if he didn't have this dreaded desease. I remember seeing him as a young bloke. A true champion

A great man indeed. I hope he doesn't suffer in his last days.

Yep sure is sad to see one of the "true greats" so ill. Ali dished out plenty of hard lessons over his career, and i guess he has been giving everyone a lesson over the last couple of decades also...... it doesn't matter who you are, how tough you are, how wealthy you are....... your life can be severely messed up without notice........ enjoy everyday you have people, and try to look on the bright side of life.

Maybe I just never grew up in his era but I have never warmed to his wide acclaim and recognition as The Greatest. Some things I have heard about him are not very flattering.
Not a champion in my eyes, but to many others he is almost God like. To me much of his reputation is more mythical misty eyed reflection than truth.
Just my opinion.......

The condition Ali has, Parkinson's Syndrome, has the same syptoms as Parkinsons Disease, but is a result of brain damage due to head injury.
If that is the outcome from a career in the ring of the fight game's greatest, then it a real cautionary tale for the sport.
The head guards worn in amateur fights are there for a reason.
Ali has always been a man of great dignity and principle.
The manner in which he stood up for his beliefs in regard to opposition to the draft, and paid the price, and also the way in which he did not use his conversion to Islam as a 'marketing tool' are in marked contrast to the crassness of lesser men in the sport.

I 'pulled a sickie' in year 10 to stay home and watch him fight. ;D

I watched this horrible disease take my grandfather over about 15 years, he has been gone for just over 2 now. And all I can say is if he is in his final months is let the man rest in peace because unfortunately quality of life is long gone.

I was wondering that too. Is it old news? His brother said "he may not make it through the summer" which is an odd thing to say, seeing it's winter in the northern hemisphere right now.

Yep, each to their own opinion.... no worries there.
Some people also reckon Ned Kelly was just a murdering, theiving, mongrel bred Irishman...... Oh heaven forbid, i reckon his face should be on the front side of our currency!!!! ;D

I hear on the news his family are denying it. Is this just a load of media jargon trying to make up another story to write about? Time will tell
