Saw this in today's CM, if it is legit it's one hell of a bargain.

after months of searching for my 4.2 and going on the prices i reckon it would have to be a mistake.
-
I can see someone phone being very busy today

There was a similar ad in our local paper(Gladstone) a couple of months ago. 04 4.2 Patrol with some gear, k's were under a 100k & only wanted $19,990. Despite ringing the number many, many times i could get no one to answer. Even said to the boys at work that it had to be a scam. Three days later the number had been disconnected. I didn't even need the truck, but at that price I would have grabbed it to onsell.
Cheers, Mike.

Had a similar thing with with a camper in a magazine, only had a mobile number, called and caleed, left voice message after voice message. Get an SMS a few days later, saying the camper was somewhere west of Darwin, the sellers were overseas and sick in hospital..
Seriously, they pray on peoples desperation for a bargain.
If it feels like poo, smells like poo, and tastes like poo, its more than likely poo.

Looks like the same one on evil-bay for the same price. ??? ???

I just posted in another thread. I didn't know it was crap.
Around Easter last year, a Jayco Swan was for sale on Gumtree. 09 model for only $12,000.
The same add appears in Vic then NSW.
I was spewing because I was real keen for it.

Yep, same ad in today's The West Australian, same price too...

Was sometimes used as a trick to upset say... a friend for a joke too.
Place ad, "going broke, need the cash and being a chef and shift worker, please call after 12 midnight when i've finished work."
I wouldn't do it myself, but i must say, after 7pm, my phone gets turned off until morning.

We've got a bloke at work who is the butt of many practical jokes. In 12mths he's had ads for his house, cars, boat and dogs put in the local rag for sale at bargin prices. Pizzas get delivered to work under his name that he's never ordered, flyers get put up on the work notice board saying he has cheap fish fillets for sale and on friday someone opened a facebook account with his name and posted photos from the syndey gay mardi gras.
Must get annoying for him after a while but its still funny.

Strewth..........
Does anyone know how to spell "work place harrasment"?????
:police: :police: :police: :police:
(still funny though..........but don't tell anyone I said that)

He handles it better than i would, but he does have a good sense of humor and gives as good as he gets. We have a pretty good bunch of blokes we work with and even spend time together on weekends either camping, drinking or just taking the piss.

Mickange, I saw this exact same patrol in our local paper too!! There has been a heap of these floating around lately and the phone number always goes to a voicemail then they email you back with some horses*#t story about viewing the car at some other place... It's the old story, if it sounds too good to be true... It usually is..

Dad just called to tell me about an immaculate-looking 04 4.2L GU in the Toowoomba Chronicle's used cars section:
http://www.thechronicle.com.au/classifieds/toowoomba/motoring/cars/?page=8 (http://www.thechronicle.com.au/classifieds/toowoomba/motoring/cars/?page=8)
Only 79,700kms, with "TJM lift kit & snorkel, tow/bull bar, extras", and the bloke only wants $17,500 for it. A silver/goldy colour by the photo (which isn't on the online listing), surprisingly similar to the one shown above by Mickange. For future reference, the phone number is 56349586 - which I believe is South Brisbane/Beaudesert/Nerang?
I remembered this thread, and told him that as much as I'd like it, it's probably a scam. I told him to feel free to ring the bloke, but don't send him any money regardless of the circumstances.
So either they're canvassing all the regional papers, or there's some poor old bloke out there desperately trying to sell his 4.2L patrol and wondering why no-one's ringing despite the really low price that he's got on it...
Cheers,
Matto

There was a story in the news awhile back about a poor guy who worked in an olirig who couldn't buy a vehicle via the trading post because everyone thought he was scamming them :D
-
So far it's in The Chronicle, on Gumtree, E-bay, in the West Australian, a Gladstone local rag, and whatever CM is!

I have a car listed for sale on CarSales and Ebay. Got a message yesterday form someone on ebay, who had found my car add used on Gumtree. Same photos, same text in the add, but the car was for sale out of Orange NSW, not Umina Beach and the price had been reduced from $25,990.00 to $3900.00.
This problem is rife.
So far, for my car add, I've offers from Linda, marine biologist, out in the ocean with no access to internet, from a guy, Bruce, on an oil rig, both offering to buy my car, and have someone from the UK come and pick it up.
-
Funny thing is it says its a gu3 but the pic is a gu4 from the looks
-
The phone number's prefix (the 1st 4 digits) is not a match for the Kelvin Grove area
-
Here it is again... Same rig but no answer... Saw it in our local paper last night
