Title: Trip tp Fraser Island
Post by: smgdag on January 17, 2013, 05:54:23 PM
Hi all, the wife and I are planning a trip to Fraser in April 2013. We will be driving a Pajero and towing a Jayco outback Swan. Was just wondering if anyone else has done the trip and towed something similar. Just trying to prepare for the trip. Booked into Cathedrals. Staying to 4 nights so the camper will be held up on site, while we tour the island. Any suggestions welcomed etc. Does anyone see any problems and any ideas before we embark.

Watch out for backpackers with no idea?.....

Other than that its easy peasy , you'll have a blast

on one of our visits to the island, we had  2 X 13ft onroad old 70's model Millard caravans and 2 X 17ft caravans (one onroad & one offroad styles) + another old pop up camper trailer in our group. if we can get them up past Cathedrals, you will have no worries with your set up. your biggest obstacle will be the short track off the beach into Cathedrals itself, it can get pretty chewed up at times, bouncy aswell as soft. tyre pressures reduced will see you through though.

With the right tyre pressures as mentioned you will have no problems. We towed a jayco swan outback over there a couple of years ago with no problems. The biggest hassle was the tight bollards in the camp grounds. You will have a great time. Good luck.
