Ok People we need to get a camper from Perth to QLD for a couple who got burnt by Jimboomba Campers.
George
-
try the trucking companies, they may be able to backload it when they have space next time. back loads are ususally heaps cheaper.
-
The easiest maybe to go with a transport company..
I'm sure swaggers will dip in for the freight
put me down for a donation on the freight cost.
-
Thanks Lost
We already have a couple of donations for the freight cost
George
-
l can help with directions & what to do when you get there . l have been told so many times l know it off by heart >:D
-
George, well done mate!! We deal with a company that freights from Brissy to Perth so I'm sure back freight will be right up their alley.. Leave it with me mate  Dave

I think the easiest would be if I get Teresa to set up a Paypal account so we can receive the donations towards the freight costs. I will post the details once the are available

+1 for donations :cup:

Everyone's generosity is just so overwhelming we can't thank you enough.
George and Theresa have been so fantastic in helping us get a camper trailer and not just any camper but a good quality camper for half the price it is worth.
We are just grateful for everything that people have said or done to restore our faith in Aussie people!
We will Certaintly be talking to a lot of people to get the word out on how great follow me campers have been!

Great work everyone - wish I could send more.
Keep us posted on the total as it rises.

Thanks very much to all. Melissa's mum had kindly given us frequent flyer points so that I can fly to meet both George and Theresa and thanks them face to face. We are planning to have contact over the next couple of days with some magazines to get this great story out there. If anyone knows someone we can contact especially media in WA please let us know. Everyone needs to know how fantastic this business has been towards us. And all the donations we are recieving from everyday Australians.
-
Can't we make a WA meet and great event at FollowMeCampers?
Invite The West etc?
-
Hi Everyone
Running tally, so far at the end of day 1 we have already received $215 into the PayPal account.
thanks to you all
Teresa, George (Luke & Melissa)

Just made a donation to the cause. Not much but I figure every bit helps get the fund closer to the transport costs.
I think it is a great thing that Teresa & George have done/doing. Show great Aussie spirit & charity :cup:

Thanks Ruskie
Total so far
$295
George
-
well done George and Teresa, just did my bit. This is a really fantastic thing you guys are doing :cup:
-
Well done swaggers.
Id like to throw this into the mix as well, its been mentioned before, the Myswag "train:
The big cost is going to be getting this thing over the Nullabore to the Eastern State's. Once it gets here, ferrying it up the east coast should be a "gimme" because of higher swagger numbers.
Im quite happy to ferry the unit from Melbourne to Wangaratta, or Wodonga. We are down in Melbourne regularly, particularly in the early months of the year when university starts again. Picking up the CT wont add much to the trip costs, and Wodonga is only an hour up the road.
That doesnt mean stop donating, it will still take a lot more $$ to get it over here to us easterners.
So, who else out there can add to the chain?
-
Well done followmecampers and the myswag community, the aussie spirit never ceases to amaze me, I have just added a little to the cause.
Good luck
Richard
-
Maybe if we had an approximate cost to move the CT to where it has to go might help gain some traction for some donations.
Cheers Nomad.

I think George mentioned that he had a quote for $2,500.
-
Sorry didnt see that...............
-
$2500 is cheap.
Melbourne CT makers quote $2000 to Perth and $1300 to Brisbane.
The aim here should be to defray as much cost as we can via donations. I presume luke will have to make up any difference, dont know, havnt asked.
Lets say we get to a $1000 in donations, that gets a fair way to the freight cost over to the eastern state's.
Once its over here. it should be a sinch.
I havnt asked George about this approach, he may like it, he may not. Just my idea. It would also have to be insured in some way.
Rather than this thread become both a donation/ferry exercise, perhaps if swaggers that could add to the eastern coast train could PM me directly and Ill record details. We can then look at what we have raised and what ferry options are out there at the end of the month.
KEEP DONATING
Cheers all.
Mace.

It's been said that some one can bring it too wodonga.
I am very happy to put the camper on a car trailer to "keep it new ;D ", tarp over the top and drive it to either sydney or even newcastle if that would help?
Sydney is only 5 hours drive (give or take) and new castle is only another hour and a half.
I still have to do a donation and will do that when I get paid on thursday, but if I could help lower the costs with taking it up that far Im more than happy to help.
Cheers

Great cause, pay a pal thingy now done.
Keep it coming guys.
-
The main problem with driving it up the eastcoast is we will have to licence it in WA
George
anyway Iam going home its been along day

Best quote so far is from Openica Logistics $2310
So we have got a long way to go , dig deep people

Thats great news,
Also just a side note, that looks like its going to be a brilliant camper for them :cup:

-
Wow, thats great news George and Teresa.
What about if we could "buy" space on the trailer and put our names on as sponsors? ;D
Like the Jan Lammers race car in 2003.
Including the promised $ it will be 40%!!
-
Everyone has been so amazing and you's make our day everyday! We can't believe the generosity of all people involved.
Totally agree that it is going to be a fantastic trailer for our family! We can't wait to one day do a big trip to WA and show it off.
My flights are booked and will be coming over to see everyone on frid 1st of feb till sun! Will be good to thank everyone involved in person!
-
Hi!
Try Pat Callinan, I emailed him when our son was in afghanistan with the army concerning some posters to make the boys feel at home and he sent over a quite a few copies of his DVDs and his books for the boys. So he might do a story on someone elses generosity

We were thinking of organising a get together that weekend while Luke is here. Suggestions would be either a BBQ at our place in Kingsley on the Saturday night or camping (we could only make Saturday night due to work though) maybe Estuary hideaway caravan park (about 20 ks Sth of Mandurah)
What do you think?
George
-
If I was over that side of the big red bit, I would be on that like white on rice.
bit of a long drive though, I'll send a few beers your way for the night to make up for it.
Cheers
Evo
-
I will try to make it George.
A bbq should be good.
Has someone tried to contact The West or any magazines like 4WD Action or CT Australia?
Good for promotion and showing how to help others.
-
BBQ George
$$$ put in your account
Troy
-
Ok BBQ at my place in Kingsley
Ive tried the camper trailer mags and it seems like if you dont advertise with them they dont want to know about it CTA are interested in it, we have tried some of the others and they dont even reply.
George

I sent an email to Today tonight, as well as a couple of friends over at channel ten.
Hopefully Someone will phone you, it'd be a nice change to hear something nice on the news for once ;D

Looking so good George! We are getting very excited!
I can't believe the tally you have! We have been trying magazines too and no one seems to reply. But we won't give up. People need to hear how great you have been and the generosity and hard work you's have gone too to help us! My wife wishes she could thank you in person but she is letting me go off for a weekend while she watches the little one.
I will send you an email tonight with my travel details.
Luke
I can't say thank you enough to everyone!
-
Hi luke, Great outcome all around.
Maybe you should change the Confused camper bit in your profile? ;D
Something along the lines of "follow me in my follow me"?
Lol
Cheers
Evo
-
Thanks. I changed the bottom saying but didn't realise it said that on the side... I'm very new at this and not very good with computers so it takes me a bit to get things done on here...cheers for letting me know.
Luke

Thats ok mate,
I was more "stirring the pot" so to speak.
That and I came up with the follow me in my Follow me, and was itching to use it ;D

Good luck Luke to you and Melissa and family, glad this has worked out for you. Enjoy your times together in the new camper. Ours will be some time off before we can do a thing with it. We are still waiting to hear something, if anything at all. Still we plan on finishing it when we get back from Tasmania. Our little grand daughter keeps asking us when is it going to be ready and is it really ours! We just wait and see. Rob up the road the original owner is going to help us finish it off and sort some of the legal stuff out. We have heard nothing else now, so gather it is all wound up. I just reckon the Willis's will get it one way or another sometime. You cannot go through life hurting people and not paying for it somehow.
I have heard a bit about Sue and she sounds like a very untrustworthy person, just wish we knew sooner. A bad character indeed!

Followmecampers and My Swaggers restore faith in human nature!
Have just made my small contribution!

Just a thought on trying to get the story out there I know not all Myswaggers are on Facebook but maybe if someone put a story on the myswag fb page then those who are on there can share it and their friends share it etc, not sure if that type of thing is ok on the fb page but just a suggestion, great to hear Aussie spirit still alive and well.

I think George did this, not sure if it was on Myswag fb or Followmecampers fb.

Sorry haven't updated for a while, its being very hectic.
We have completed Luke & Melissa's camper and are now waiting for next weekend when Luke is in Perth to meet us and his camper.
We have a balance now if $1084 towards the cost of transport - so well done everyone that will be a great help.
I will add some photos of the completed camper on Tuesday so you can see what it looks like now finished.
The BBQ mentioned earlier on this thread is happening next Saturday night (2.2.13) from 5.30pm and we would love for as many myswag members to attend as can make it.
I have also put this invitation on the Follow Me Campers facebook page http://www.facebook.com/# (http://www.facebook.com/#)!/pages/Follow-Me-Campers/287775964594569 so get on there and like it so we can get a good group together and even though it appears we will have to write our own articles for Camper Trailer Australia and Western 4WDriver we will have some good photos to go with the story.
Send us a PM or contact George on 0403574222 if you are able to make it.

As far as freight goes, few options
Put it on load shift.com.au, people will call you re freighting it back
Go to the bp at kewdale and put a a4 wanted backload page on the truckie lounge wall.
Do a few of these at big truck stops.
Being realistic you should get it back to Brisbane for under $1500 .
I recently got a 4 t digga back from Perth to Newcastle,for a grand.
You just got to be patient and be firm :worthles:with what you are offering to pay.
Give me a bell if you need any info.
In case u are wondering used to work in logistics :)
-
Finally done mine.
$100 tonight.
-
I have three, perhaps four days off in mid Feb and an issue with my lease whereby I need to drive 5300km in the next two months. I'd be prepared look at the logistics to collect the camper from anywhere in QLD and drop it at its home on my way back to Kuranda.
Where is it going to live?
-
Wow George the camper looks fantastic! We just do not know how to thank you enough.
Melissa has also been in contact with camping magazines and will write a story and send in as well.
To everyone who has donated money towards the freight, well words don't say enough to show you our apreciation and how honestly grateful we are to you all. It just goes above and beyond what we could have expected to happen after jimboomba collapse. We hope to meet a lot of you someday as we camp in our new follow me camper!
I hope to see a lot of you at the BBQ where we can celebrate the great people that George nd Theresa and the team at follow me campers are. Also so I can thank you all for your donations!
Luke and Melissa
-
It is a real pleasure to help you guys out.
See you on Saturday.
-
We handed over the camper to Luke today, he is very happy with it and can't wait to get it over to Townsville to show Melissa and Braxton (their son).

Well done everyone.
-
Ahh top stuff,,,, that camper looks great, can't wait to see it out and about in FNQ!!
-
Spoke to Luke yesterday and he was so excited and impressed with the camper. We are just so grateful to this wonderful family. Not only have they done this for us, they have taken Luke in for the weekend and made his stay in Perth so enjoyable.
Thank you everyone for everything you have done for us. WE can't wait to get the camper out on the Queensland roads and show off such a fine product! And one day hopefully you will see us travelling over in Perth with it.
Melissa
-
It was great meeting you yesterday Luke.
Good to see there is still goodness in this world.
George, the meat was perfectly cooked, the company was great. Not sure if we can tell everything on this forum.....:-)
-
Missed the BBQ, but will definitely stop in for a meet and greet, next time Im up in the big smoke!
The camper looks awesome!!
-
Just driving to work this morning through Eagle Farm and spotted a fairly newish looking Followme camper on the back of a truck. Couldn't get a good look as the truck was stopped in his lane and mine was flat strap so just saw the Followme sign.
Just thought of you guys as I drove past, is it on a truck yet?
-
Hi Everyone,
I would just like to thank everyone for everything they have done for us the last couple of months. From when this first thread Jimboomba campers closing down started we have felt so much support right across the country. From peoples lovely words of support to the over whelming generosity from George and Teresa and follow me campers and then the wonderful donations from the fellow my swag people, we just don't have the words to express how grateful we are. Melissa can still remember the day George called her to discuss giving us a camper at half there cost from there camper ranges. At this stage we couldn't believe it would happen, and now we have a camper that is either on a truck or waiting to be put on a truck and come to live with us!!
Thank you to everyone who donated towards the freight this just showed us what wonderful people there is in the camping community. George and Teresa you's are just more then we could have imagined to come into our lives. I look forward to one day introducing Melissa and my kids to you both! If you ever come over to QLD for a holiday let us know so we can meet up or show you the same hospitality you showed me on the weekend...we would love to have you's.
For anyone who doesn't know, I did go to Perth on the weekend to meet with George and Teresa and check out my new camper. Now the quality of camper I have recieved is better then the original Jimboomba one I was originally getting. Everything about the camper is excellent quality and exactly what we were after. I can't fault it! I also put the camper up and can say comfortably that my wife could put it up her self it was so easy!
To the fellow my swag people, I look forward to talking on many more forums and sharing with you our camping stories in our new follow me camper! We are purchasing a sticker from My Swag this week and will be proudly sticking it on my camper!
Thanks again
Luke
-
Glad to hear everything has worked out so well for you guys Luke.
You know, now that you know your better half can put it up herself, It's a great excuse to sit back with a beer while she does.
I just tell mine she needs the practice...... >:D ;D
Works on most things too lol
All Jokes aside, This really is one of those moments where we can now start to look back and see just what makes us as Aussies great :cup:
I hope you get many many happy trips away in your new Follow me Camper.
Cheers
Evo

:worthles: with the new owners sittin by a river with a glass of wine... :cup:
-
Hi Everyone,
Well, Luke & Melissa's camper is now at Openica Transport and they told me it should leave either today or Saturday with a load of caravans going to Brisbane. Then onto a smaller truck to go northwards to it's new home !!
We had a good catch-up Saturday night, Wilsurf and Wrex were able to come along with their partners and families. A group of our friends were also there as they were keen to meet Luke after we had spent the last couple of months talking about what we were doing.
We are sending the story and photos off to the magazines soon and will keep an eye out for the articles they promised.
George
-
Great, now everyone is guessing who-is-who.........
-
That bloke at the back in the middle is a good looking bloke.
-
Looks like he is hiding
-
My witness relocation officer didn't think it was a good idea, I'm in the manure. ;D
-
Just thought I would let everyone know we have had a couple of replies from a few magazines regarding our story and what George and Teresa did for us. Hopefully there should be a few articles in future editions and some great advertising for follow me campers.
-
Awesome.
-
Good one. Great story.
