We have a large 20litre bucket for lots of things when camping, and another smaller one for night time use ........... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I want to buy, get, steal one for washing with a lid. Would need to be 20-25litre........has anyone got one, and where did you get it please..

Know any plasterers? Top coat buckets are 20 litre ish and have an excellent sealing lid. Easy as to clean out if the remnants are still wet.
The one we had for clothes washing while travelling was a 15 litre (I think) "Handy Pail"?? from Mitre 10.
-
Bunnos has them
-
Pretty sure we got ours from BCF.
-
20L plastic 'handy pail' with snap-on seal lid - bunnings - $10 when I got mine in 2011
-
Thanks everyone...............Bunnings is worth alook. May be awhile, an hr away.

Have a look at the plastic ones with the screw on lid, they have a good quality rubber o ring in the lid. We use them at work for keeping our radios etc dry when out in the boat. You can get them from BCF and other boating stores. Bazza may even have one at Tumut/fishing and camping. Also try Mcdougals or Pidsleys failing that off to Wagga you go! ;D
We are camping at Blowering for a week from next Friday with the Crawfords, somewhere near the ranger station call in if you get a chance. We will be calling to see Tony and Netties mansion at some stage also.

We started with a 25ltr bucket but found it too big to get out of the side hatch in the camper....so down sized to (around) a 15 ltr one which seems to work well for us. We store the washing detergent/fabric softener/pegs/ and a container of coins for washing machines when and if we stay in a park somewhere in ours. The bucket also just has a push on lid and hasn't leaked yet as we washed on the go across some pretty rough terrain. Recycled builders products buckets do seem to be the go and cheap as if you can find a building site with some available!
Cheers,

Home brew beer fermenter would be good for this as well.

Go to Coles Deli, they have 20ltr buckets that some cheese comes in. Water tight lid on them that clips on properly.
DDR's missus put us onto them.

But even dry contents come out easily. We use these for our sullage and showers (not in that order and not the same bucket) and I'd be very happy to use the shower one to wash clothes in. Just make sure you get a lid ... but then you can find those lids everywhere around a job site.
Tilers have buckets of this type as well.
You can buy (for some mega bucks) a 20L plasterers bucket with an agitator thingie in the lid.

We use a a screw top wide mouth bucket of about 10 litres obtained from a camping shop. The lid has an rubber o-ring seal so you can load it, travel and let it wash itself. To manually wash we use a long handled sink drain plunger. The bucket doubles as the shower bucket where we recirculate water until hot with a Coleman Hot Water on Demand. The detergent we use is liquid wool wash which is less fussy about being properly rinsed (less water) than conventional detergent.

We only wash clothes when camping if we are on a site with a laundry - other than that we just pack what we need for the trip and wash when we get back!
We bought one of those plastic washing buckets with an agitator handle at a camping show years ago - it took up too much space and was never used.

Check the markets. Always seems to be someone there selling ex plaster buckets.

Buckets we get are "Fetta" buckets, they have a rubber seal, tight lid & are squareish making for easy packing. Best of all they are FREE
