Hey all, after a nine day camping trip down the coast, I kept my fridge with my CT and used solar to run it. All my mates and family ribbed me reckond the only way was to leave it in the car the whole time. Where do you keep yours???? (Bush camping with no shore power).
-
Simple. 2 fridges, problem solved.......... ;D
-
Depends on what you are doing. Did you go out in the car every day? Was there anything else running off the battery? Do you have kids who need cold drinks etc? But most importantly, what business is it of others where you kept it? Your CT battery did not go flat so who cares. Busy bodies with nothing better to do than criticise how you camp. Ignore them.
-
Yep my kingdom for another fridge....
-
In the car- it's a ute! We had it set up before we got our CT, which doesn't have room for a fridge. Problem solved! But if one person goes off in the car, the other is left with no fridge! Nothings perfect! Kris

That's what small eskies are made for - Transfer sufficient beer to last until vehicle and fridge return ... Mandrakes Law

Evakool 60 litre in Quantum, powered by solar.
Waeco CF60 in the back of the Cruiser, powered by "aux" battery.

The world according to Mandrake, Nice!!
I have mine in the back of the ute, then transfer it to inside the CT. when we go places for the day, I put it back in the ute and plug it into the portable battery box. We will be setting up camp then going to do things for the day.

And yes, we do take an esky for keeping the beer cold!!

My fridges always stay in the back of the 4WD as it's hard working carrying a full fridge. Also if we go for a drive the battrey's get a charge, we always have cold drinks with us and less chance of being stolen.
-
We also have one in the car and one in the camper. Before we had two it was always the car so when we went of day drives it was always there and - other stuff ;D
-
If you only have the one fridge then it really depends on personal circumstances. We've done both; in the car has benefits of having food at hand for lunch and the battery gets a charge when you head off for day trips; in the CT for us is a lot easier access than in the car.
Prior to getting solar panels I've transferred from car to CT part way through the trip as we didn't do many side trips to top up the car battery.
Bottom line if its got enough power and your beers are cold, who cares.
Preference for me is in the CT but that works better with my setup.
-
We leave the camping fridge at the campsite (on gas)
If we want to take drinks with us, just chuck some in a cooler bag.
We leave our household fridge at home too and use the cooler bag again if going out someplace. :D
-
1 in the camper 1 in the annex and one in the car
-
We keep ours in the CT, and take a small esky/cooler bags if heading out.
-
Same as others for us, it just depends on the trip and the length of time we are staying. I have a 75lt Auto Fridge in the car and leave it there if we are doing lots of travelling. If we are in a CP or staying in one spot for awhile I take it out of the car and plug it into the CT as I have more battery power to draw from.
For long extended trips that are more isolated I have a 50lt evakool fridge that goes into the CT as well.
Solar will be my next big spend, currently I either drive the car every couple do days or use the Honda Genny every couple of days for a couple of hours.
Regards
Jas

We only have the 1 fridge (40l Engel, also have a Two Zone). Normally it stays in the wagon, powered by the Aux battery. When we camp at Xmas, the fridge is pulled from the car & sits in the camper annexe, powered by the CT battery + solar panel, a 55l ice box is also used for the . The Xmas set up is on private property, so no worries about getting back to camp to find the fridge is gone.
-
Have always carried all food and the fridge in the truck, Been stranded by tides and bogged and always had supplies to last us..unlike some others that were with us at the time ..
-
80ltr Engel lives in the back of the fourby and 75ltr Autofridge in the camper 8) 8)
-
Fridge in back of tug then on a stand in the annex next to the kitchen. Everything nice and handy. No back and forth to the fridge. If we go anywhere for the day, we use a small esky.

Fridge gets permanently set up in camp in shade when camped.
Daily supplies of  kept in chiller box between front seats, 10 can limit for the day. Seems to be enough for me, perhaps some (speewa) mite find this insufficient! ;D
-
We have 80 lt Engel fridge/freezer in the camper running off solar and 40 lt Engel fridge in the back of the cruiser running off aux battery.
With this est up you can well and truly have it over them and you can give them a ribbing ;D >:D.
Food and some drinks in the camper fridge and drinks in the cruiser fridge.
-
We have 2 x 40l Engels in the front gullwing box of the camper and a 25l Weaco for day trip that's kept in the cruiser. One of the Engels is for food on the kitchen side of the camper, the other is for drinks on the other side of the front box. Sometimes the 25l is used as a freezer on bigger trips but mostly it's a back up drinks fridge.
-
I'm 50/50 sometimes it stays in the back of the cruiser, sometimes I set it up at the CT Kitchen.....another good option, if i'm unhooking the cruiser from the CT, i'll leave it in the back of the cruiser and reverse the cruiser back to the annexe, at the opposite end of the kitchen....
-
I have a 35l ARB fridge in the back of the Challenger and a 32l Engle in the camper for longer trips.
-
Another one here for a 40ltr engel in the fourby, and the standard fridge (90ltr) in our CT, also on bigger trips take a 20ltr engel as a permanent type freezer, usually carry that on the floor of CT during transit.

I only have one fridge. It sits in the back of the fourby, then gets placed on the stand at the rear of the CT when in camp.

Camping should be easy as possible. It takes less than 2 minutes to disconnect and carry our 60L Evakool from the car to under the camper awning. Beer tastes so much better when you can stay seated for a refill 8)

You need to get up sooner or later......... ;D

You need to get up sooner or later......... ;D
You never asked what I was seated on ;D
Might explain the funny looks I get from fellow campers...

(Comment removed, lesson to self read ALL new posts b4 replying to any that aren't the latest).
Wondering why I don't have the "remove" option showing up..
-
Yep same as some others, two 40 l Engels start in the back of the truck and end up under the awning of the trackie, that way on day trips we just throw of the Engels in the bad of the truck.

Jesus, some of you blokes have more fridges with bigger capacity than what I have at home in my temporary kitchen.
:'(
-
I just keep it simple, I keep my fridge wrapped around my beer
-
We have the auto fridge tucked away nicely in the kitchen of the KK.
Thinking of getting a small one to replace the centre console in the cruiser for drinks (non alcoholic of course) whilst driving.

Good onya folks, thanks for the comments. I'm gonna have a beer and mull it over!!!

My fridge lives on top of the drawers. I made up some blinds as it now sits up high with the drawers and gets direct sun via the window.

Two engels one in the camper one in the car. The one in the camper gets used as a freezer on longer trips. I have solar panels plugged into the camper and if I'm not driving the car for a while I back the car up to the camper and plug the anderson in so the solar can backfeed and top up car too.
